The Radeon RX 6900/6950 XT Owners Thread.

What sort of psu are you guys running ?, got my replacement red devil ultimate and still having coil whine though it is better then the first. Currently running a 850w bit fenix but curious what others have.
1000W Corsair HX Platinum, two separate cables no extension cables. My 6900 XT had a bit of coil whine when I first got it but after a couple of months of solid usage it is whisper quiet.

Thanks for the quick reply, i have mine on 3 separate cables so i think that part is fine, i remember reading about voltage spikes but haven't had any odd behaviour so far. Currently running heaven benchmark continuously to try and mature coils as fast as possible whilst staying in rma window. Slightly regretting good hearing at the moment

Seasonic P Series 1000w '80 Plus Platinum, bought in 2016.

Sapphire Radeon RX 6900 XT Nitro+ SE OC, and no coil whine at all. Thank god. :)

Asus TUF RX 6900 XT ... I think mine is poorly.

I get artifacts in Time Spy and Ungine Heaven.
Port Royal won't run at all.
And both the Radeon Software and GPU app crash on startup.

I used the AMD Cleanup utility and tried three different drivers: 2020-21.4.1, 2020-21.5.2 and 2020-21.6.2 ... same result.

I then tested the card in another slower PC, Radeon Software and GPU Tweak do at least start, but still the artifacts are there.

:confused::mad::confused:

I have an RM1000 and yeah I ge coil whine on the gpu. It seems to be getting better over time though.

Do games run ok or are they artifacting also?

It does look faulty, as others said check in games before you send back.

If you are based in the UK, it could be a blessing though.

You can send the TUF back for a refund and buy a XFX 6900 XT Merc Limited Edition (XTXH silicon).

Faster, cooler and better looking all in one. :)

I've just discoverd that a XFX 6900 XT Speedster Merc 319 Limited Edition (XTXH) exists and is for sale in the UK. Colour me interested. :D

Are you on about the XFX Radeon RX 6900 XT Merc319 BLACK Limited Ed Graphics Card ? With the Boost Clock: 2495MHz instead of Boost Clock: 2365MHz on the normal card ?

Looks nice but still kinda pricey for £1550 don't you think ? I know prices are silly anyways .. I'm not really keeping track of the AMD 6900XT prices so would you class it a good price ?

Yes that's what I would do the XFX looks like the better card than the TUF, so may work out really well if prices are same or maybe cheaper now for the XFX compared to the TUF when he purchased it.

Yep that's the one.

I paid £1200 for the XTX version which I am happy with given its performance.

£1550 is still overpriced though, but it's more reasonably priced than a lot of other XTXH's currently available.

I know how good the cooler is, so for me it's worth it for the better silicon, higher voltage and power limits.

Whether it will be that much faster than my XTX I will not know until I get to play with it. If it's not really any faster I'll probably return it. If it's faster I'll keep it and sell my current XTX on.

The problem is the XTX card I have is a good sample, so it will be interesting to see how much better the XTXH silicon is.

same card, 850w PSU in sig below. Bit of coil whine but I cant hear it because its in its own compartment bottom right of where I sit. Only hear it in say Timespy but have to really stoop down and put my ear close to the case. Oh and two seperate cables as per the instructions that came with it.

Looks like classic memory artifacting.

Yeah I thought that too.

You just want to climb back up the Timespy leaderboard dont you ! ;)

I'm not sure I want an AIO to be honest, I quite enjoy having an air cooled card and I know the capabilities of the Merc cooler and how quiet it is.

The extra memory speed would be nice though tbf.
I thought the llc cards were for oems so you wouldn't be able to buy one anyway?

It is not about the AIO cooler or if it is an OEM one.

The point I am making is better quality memory chips have been used on the card and it is logical to expect that those same chips could surface again partnered with a XTXH core.

This would give the best of both worlds and a very fast card.:D:)

You should buy my 6900 XT Merc Kaap. :)

Nice, thanks for the share mate. Is the reported clock speed accurate? You were running at 2680-2780Mhz in Radeon Software? Have you extended the power limits with MPT?

The real true test will be when i can compare them on the same system, same OS, memory timings and all other settings. I would expect somewhere between 2-4% difference at best in graphics score but we shall see.

But is that when in high fps etc , i get it around 100-150 in most games. If it was like 400+ i wouldn't care and would frame rate limit. Not having much progress with heaven benchmark this time either :/
If your card has whine, it's not going to vanish in a couple of days, but over time like 1-2 months it should diminish and if you are lucky vanish completely.

If it whines in whatever game you play most, leave it running that overnight for a few nights. See if it helps. I doubt you play Unigine too much.
