The Radeon RX 6900/6950 XT Owners Thread.

It just means it's not quite stable at the maximum speed.

Based on my testing of using a 6800 XT and a 6900 XT, you want to put the memory at 2112-2114Mhz maximum in games. Somewhere after this speed, performance (FPS) dropped in the games i tested. It was the same for both GPUs.

However, synthetic benchmarks like Timespy Etc, continue to show improvement up to 2150Mhz.

Thanks. Will try this. I didn’t have much time to tinker with MPT and profiles last night (Eating into gaming time too much) So I just maxed out memory speed, set a min 2300 max 2400 on GPU clock with a 1150mv undervolt. (In AMD settings)
It’s a shame that MPT doesn’t work on the fly, rebooting, not that it takes that long on a M.2 can feel like a bit of a grind.

Will try again tonight.

Yeah i hear ya.

As i said, just just use MPT to adjust power limits and max soc voltage to 0.912v. Leave voltage changes to Radeon Software.

I am attaching two of my personal tuned 6900 XT profiles you can try. Be interested to know if they work with your sample, just download them and load them into GPU Tuning. MPT was set to 325W, TDC 360A, Max SOC at 0.912v so you want to use these values for now.

To update on my coil whine (reference card branded by sapphire), it was returned and the retailer agreed it was faulty (the whine actually got worse and was audible at idle). They refunded me as they had no more stock and no idea of when more stock was due. They actually got more stock a few days later but at a higher price so I left that. Then these showed up yesterday at +£49 over what I paid for the reference card so I went for it...........

Please ignore the cable mess, the card is huge and I've had to move the radiator and the cable tidy thing off the rear as it just wouldn't fit. I think I might go back to the fractal R6 as that has a lot more room. The card is nice a quiet and runs really cool. I haven't had much time to mess around with it yet but it seems like the performance bios on balance settings gives better results than the stock card and runs around 15 degrees C cooler. The performance bios doesn't like undervolting though.
Finally :D

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your Radeon RX 6900 XT.

Welcome. :)

I am so curious where you managed to get a XFX Merc 6900 XT in the UK!

Sadly from the Overclockers, Electronic competition.
I have to admit it was only by luck, I managed to snag one.
So what is the generally recommended way to overclock these cards?
More Volts + higher clocks? Or Lower Volts?

I have the Red Devil and have been delighted by it's overclocking performance, stability and how responsive the card is to the changes you make. Power limit is the big factor, whack that right across to plus 15 if you want to see a boost to your clocks. I haven't had to touch the voltage personally although I have no interest in saving power from a cost perpective. I set my min core clock to 2500 and max to 2700 - this gives me a fairly consistent clock of 2650+ in game. I've also set my memory to fast timings and put this right across to 2150 Mhz - this give me an in game clock of 2138. I've played 20+ hours of Cyberpunk with these settings and it's been rock solid!

@LtMatt

Just tried out your pro.2 quiet setting you gave me the link for eairler. My isp wouldn't let me dl them so I just used your screen shot. Ran the MPT.

This is halfway through Superposition benchmark @4K optimised. Seems like she likes the settings and is holding up good.
Sorry about the phone shot. It wouldn't let me screenshot from within the program.

I’ll upload them to my one drive tomorrow mate, that’s some weird ISP you have. If you don’t use my original profiles the voltage might be wrong.Hard to tell. You’d need to display the voltage on your OSD. It’s not available yet in Afterburner if that’s what you are using. HWinfo64 can show you the voltage via OSD.

Yeah, its Vodafone. I`ll try HWinfo, already have it on here.
Thanks. any particular Game/Benchmark you`d like me to run??

Been on Pubg about an hour and a half now.
Card never really getting above 67c
Junction 75c.
2437Mhz GPU 2102Mhz Mem.
Not dropping more than 130FPS at 1440p Ultra Maxed out.

(LtMatt's "AMD Profile 2. Quiet")
(MPT settings enabled).

GPU-Z Showing Max Power draw 297W.

Looks good! What voltage is it using in game?

No worries anytime. Funnily enough this happened to me today although in a slightly different way.

Switched out my 6900xt for a 3090FE to have a tinker with and CPU was 60-63C.

Had a quick look and Radeon software was the issue. Closed it and everything went away. To be honest I've gotten used to these spikes now on Ryzen and especially with the 5800x, it is certainly very spicy when pulled for load
