The Radeon RX 6900/6950 XT Owners Thread.

Yes, I just bought it, received it last Friday. Hopefully, if they replace it, I won't have the same problem again.

If it's really that bad send it back to OCUK and ask them for a new card while they still have them in stock. If it's as bad as you state I'm sure they will swap it, but be aware you may end up with a worse one, so be realistic how bad it is.

Like I said stick a video up if you can showing the sound it's making at its worse and when normal.

Seems all AMD cards are going up! you can find them cheaper as well, whats going on with OCUK prices, these are cards that have been in stock and going up in price.

You have to remember its all economics. OCUK prob sold out of stock they bought when the US price was "good" against the pound and are now selling stock when the price was worse hence the price rise. Other places will still be selling stock at the US $ good price hence are cheaper.
In a roundabout way its an indication OCUK are selling more than their competitors. Its just some people think OCUK are ripping people off when their prices are higher they dont actually know how it works behind the scenes.

Interesting so i have used the 10600k vs 5800x (couldnt find the 3d) with the 6900xt (as couldnt find the 6950xt) results are as following. all on gpu intense tasks as all i really care about the pc for is gaming
1400p
10600k - cpu is took weak for 6900xt . 9.4% processor bottleneck
5800x - work great together 0.2% gpu bottleneck 5.3% gpu

1440p Ultrawide
10600k - will work great together with the gpu - 1.6% processor bottleneck
5800x 6900xt is too weak for the 5800x - 5.3% gpu bottleneck

4k
10600k - same as with 1440p ultrawide but 1.6% gpu bottleneck
5800x - same as above but with a 21.5% put bottleneck

That's right, you want a GPU bottleneck compared to a CPU bottleneck.

You want the GPU to work harder and max out utilization and have your CPU sitting around, chilling and sipping margaritas.

ah ok. learnt something new there. so going on numbers alone (not value) there would be a benefit to putting a 5800x in if gaming at 1440p. however, in terms of value there seems little point in spending the extra money to gain what seem to be little extra.. in regards to the 4k result does this mean there would be a benefit to switching?

Hi All,

Looking to move my reference 6900XT into my wife's PC - it's an ITX build using a Corsair SF600 Gold PSU powering a 5600X, Asus ROG B450-I, a couple of fans, and a single 2TB NVME drive. (Currently running an RTX 3060)

AMD recommends an 850W PSU, which kinda seems overkill... will I be ok with the SF600?

Cheers,

Su
