The Radeon RX 6900/6950 XT Owners Thread.

Good to hear they were created on a 6900 XT MBA so should work well. Be interested to know if the other two work as well if you ever need more/less performance.

I've probably got more time to play around on the weekends so I'll have a look at see how it behaves. If I run the preset 'undervolt' and try to stream on Discord, whatever game I'm playing crashes so the Power Saving Profile will confirm/deny that the stock undervolt profile is crap. As for performance, I can see this cooking my case but I will try this one also lol.

Hey all, another Red Devil 6900 XT owner here (NON LE). Card's solid and the oc headroom is great, though it takes quite a lot of patience and previous knowledge to extract the best out of it.

Looking at MPT, they categorically do not recommend to use the "Write SPPT" button/method. I see many of you here are doing just that and wanted to know your experience with that.

I tried the longer method editing the BIOS but RBE won't load the BIOS from this card :(

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Any reason why it is not recommended to use WRITE SPPT? It seems the best solution to me. No BIOS flash needed, no chance of bricking the card if you use sensible values and only change Power Limit, TDC and Max SOC Voltage.

And you can click DELETE SPPT, or re-install the driver to quickly undo any changes.

I much rather use this temporary method than try and flash a updated BIOS.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Yes me too, I'd like to follow that same procedure myself.

As far as I understand, starting in 2020 the Adrenaline software has several built in "cherry bombs", which may ultimately even set your clocks to 300Mhz permanently in some instances.

I quote:

"Currently, the MPT (MorePowerTool) works with all released Navi cards, whereby the SPPT (SoftPowerPlayTables) stored in the registry are extremely slowed down or artificially limited by the drivers"

And

"This is necessary, because the Adrenaline driver since 2020 extremely restricts the execution of the SPPT stored in the registry. Whoever sets the PowerLimit, the clock or voltages too high will be punished with a GPU clock of 300 MHz which can no longer be raised. In order to circumvent this deliberately built in hurdle, only the PowerPlayTables, which are permanently stored in the BIOS, help."

Hence my question to you guys :)

If you just adjust the things i mentioned you won't get that issue.

The only thing you really need to change is the Power Limit so get some more headroom. Stock TDC is set to 320 for the 6900 XT which is plenty anyway. Max SOC voltage can be reduced if you are using the MBA version to save a little on temps and power limit.

I have personally used Power Limit up to 400W (which is more than enough) for short benching runs.

Alright, will give that a go :)

Alright chaps so, I managed to get it to work with the "Write SPPT" method.

Set Power GPU Limit to 350

Set TDC Limit to 330

Left Wattman at 2600 Core clock, 2100 memory def timing, Power +15% and I set the fan curve to a bit more aggressive.

Now the GPU stays at 2600Mhz constant and that's made a bit of a difference

It is true, if you enter values that somehow are not compatible with the Wattman's arbitrary logic, there will be all sorts of trouble, including the core clock stuck at low frequency. Happened to me where it got stuck at 400Mhz.

All in all I'm happy.:)

Please can I be added

To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your Radeon RX 6900 XT.

Seems the 0 RPM reading with these Radeon drivers is back to haunt me, i have found this issue reported elsewhere too here.

This thread seems to say an older driver fixed it for them or using dual card bios flip switch if your card has one.

This time i can still see the zero rpm option under fan tuning and its set to off.

Somewhere is selling XFX Merc Black Edition available right now for £1250, just bought one myself. :D

This means my current Merc might be up for sale on the MM soon. ;)

Well thats embarrassing, i have been through my pc with a fine comb and found a stray cable which was just touching my 3rd gpu fan and causing the 0 rpm reading Doh!

Red face alert.
