The Radeon RX 6900/6950 XT Owners Thread.

So, I may be able to do the 5950X instead of the 5900X, at MSRP, and make my 11700K and Z490 available to my brother. If that was important to supply him with an upgrade, rather than chasing benchmarks, would you do it now rather than later?
If you can afford it, do it. The 5950X is the best gaming and workstation consumer CPU available. It is the best CPU to pair with the 6900 XT and you’ll get SAM in every game also for an extra 5-10% additional performance in games.

He can enable resizable bar and get the ~same performance benefits.

This is true, but the gains are not quite as impressive as seen with SAM, but they are still good tbf.

Let me put it another way, which do you think is going to improve over time? Have a think about it.

You are right about the watt thing with GT2 but my issue was with clocks in combination with watts. I was allowing 425w to GPU alone with ~2610 MHz clocks. Settled for ~2580MHz in-game for now.

When/Where is the scene in RE Village where I can test this? Haven't bought RE Village yet but always good to know a reliable test scenario.
Sorry missed this. No particular scenes, just the game in general from what I have seen.

Near the start in the house was drawing some serious wattage compared to other games from what I've seen on my overlay.

Wanted opinions of fellow owners, I picked up a 6900xt Red devil ultimate, and it whined like a banshee, spent hours running everything from heaven to 3d mark tests to try and heat up and mature the coils and whilst it has improved I still find it quite distracting l. Am I over reacting to RMA it to get a replacement ?

It's almost the same when comparing AMD GPUs on Intel vs AMD systems. Can't find the exact benchmarks atm. About which is going to improve over time; don't underestimate the power of the Nvidia/driver team.

6800xt/6900xt are known for coil whine, you will get used to it and it reduces a little with time, doesn't affect performance at all.

Incorrect, only 1 of the 6800/6900's that I had (about 5) has had slight coilwhine and the rest had none that I could detect. Please don't spread uneducated and damaging misinformation.

Well, both I had, did have coil whine, but those cards run nicely cool, no need for rma.

How did you have 5 6800s/ 6900s ?

I've been lucky. No coil whine whatsoever on many of my cards. My 6900XT has none thank god.

The only card that I owned that had coil whine. Or coil whine that I could hear. Was on My GTX 295. And it was load and I hated it

Most powerful GPUs have a bit of coil whine but it usually disappears completely after some usage. My 6900 XT Merc had a little to start with but after a month it is now silent. Just needs bedding in. My 6700 XT Merc had no whine, but it’s not spitting out such high FPS as it’s bigger brother.

Thanks for the feedback, I ended up going for a replacement RMA as I could still hear it across the room with music on. I know this gen of cards both on nvidia and amd's side seem to have more coil whine than previous gens but this one whined simply moving my mouse over icons XD.

Yeah that’s pretty bad then hopefully more luck with the next one.
