Hmm seems I have the high idle power draw issue and I don't have HDR or a second monitor it hovers around 100w+ as mentioned elsewhere its related to high clock speed on the Vram @ 2000mhz+
edit: ok did a full "factory reset" and that seems to have reduced it to a more reasonable 40w+ / 900mhz+
Still trying to decide if I should go xt or xtx, got the aw3423dwf monitor recently. Currently have a 8700k, waiting for the 7800x3d to be released before deciding what to get intel or amd.
Due to my case (315mm clearance without removing the front mounted fans) I have the option of the reference or the sapphire pulse, if going xtx the choice is obvious but with the xt does the pulse offer enough over the sapphire reference to be worth £100 extra? There was rumblings of there being some issue with the reference cards, is that still the case?
It's for the MBA card. The MBA cards have a temperature sensor in the first fan blade (the fan furthest away from the PCIe bracket) that monitors the inlet ambient temperature.
Don't know if it's driver v23.3.1 or the recent update to 3DM, as didn't get chance to test prior to installing v23.3.1. But I can now use 165MHz refresh rate on Dell S2721DGFA and not getting freeze at stage where result show in 3DM. Before any driver after v22.12.2 I was limited to 144Hz as had issue in 3DM. Not setting a CRU profile via driver either.
DDU to remove v23.2.2, installed v23.3.1, loaded my saved driver settings and boom! worked for whole suite of 3DM tests .
XTX Merc, OC VB, VRAM: 2728MHz PL +15%, rest defaults, on modded Bykski Nitro+ XTX water block.
MSI AB hasn't been updated for RX 7900 series. Author is Russian and MSI not paying him, due to the Ukraine war. You'll see news stories on web in relation to this and also he stated in post on Guru3D forum.
Quick question for those that have the reference Sapphire 7900XT, how loud does it get?
I've got a very quiet system at the minute with a 360mm AIO for the CPU and a MSI 6600XT Gaming. I know the 7900XT will be louder as it's a much more powerful card, but how noisy does it get? I don't like gaming with headphones.

Mine gets pretty loud at 100% but it is in a MATX case, albeit a fairly well cooled one.
I've now found my max clocks etc so I'm now working on dropping the power limit and keeping it sane.
At the end of the day +15 power limit and pushing the clocks high only really nets me around 8% more performance in exchange for 50+ watts more, loads of heat and noise. It's plenty powerful stock tbh.

Update on XTX Merc fitted with modded Bykski A-SP7900XTX-X (Nitro+ XTX) water block.
GPU/VRM temps sweet, besting best I'd seen on air cooled, owned XTX MBA/Merc/Nitro+/Red Devil.
The Bykski block originally gave VRAM temps close to air cooled Nitro+ XTX ~85C. Merc XTX air cooled ~75C, so not impressed. Especially as I'd seen decent owner data on XTX with Alphacool block posted on OCN. Then did shave a bit off on 2nd assembly with differing pads. Third attempt I'm now at ~75C for same testing as air cooled Nitro+/Merc, 3D loads be ~60C.
Now just waiting for Alphacool block, but just glad to get panels back on after going XTX at launch!
Thomasck on OCN has had better VRAM temps, but block is fitted to Nitro+, where as I'm modding it to fit Merc. He suggested PCB thickness difference maybe cause for issue I had on VRAM temp. I looked at Alphacool technical drawings for their blocks and indeed the Merc PCB was slightly thicker. So Alphacool Merc block is lower than Nitro+ on PCB side.

Nothing significantly more than usual GPUs I've used with this WC setup, check this imgur album. Early on is 3DM with assembly 1 of block (see notes in spoiler below), then you have 3 back to back tests of Memtest Vulkan, say idle is ~103W for my rig at wall, inc ~30W screen, for Memtest Vulkan runs shown max 602W.
My Be Quiet Dark Base 900 Pro is modded. Front door removed and mesh mod. Top panel all plastic interference removed so air exhaust unimpeded as possible. In the top panel is cavity, this allows the fans on top rad to flow better, no back draft occurs in cavity, as top section of case I have closed all openings by adhering permanently black card over them. Same with openings between case and front panel.

Be Quiet Dark Base Pro 900, front door removed and mesh mod done, top panel stock mesh had plastic removed to improve airflow.
Cooling:-
Bykski A-Ryzen-ThV2-X CPU block (Arctic Cooling MX-4)
Bykski A-SP7900XTX-X
Notes:-
Nitro+ water block modded to Merc XTX. One standoff removed due to interference with PCB.
Using 1.0mm pad Arctic TP-3 pad on outer VRAM section. 1.2mm Bykski pad on centre VRAM section. 1.5mm on inner VRAM section.
Merc PCB thicker than Nitro+, Alphacool block sit lower on Merc, so to gain same air temp as on Merc air cooler gotta use differing pads. GPU/VRM temps sound, Thomasck fitted block to Nitro+, has VRAM temps I'd expect for WC.

AVFS is crazy good. In OP of this thread, is a section where it states SMU FW within a driver, you can see in HWINFO where you see A.Q.
I'm gonna share a ZIP, they are my 3DM runs today. I am no longer bothering with manual OC/UV.
Daily gonna go OC VB, -10% PL, VRAM 2728MHz. When need extra perf, go PL 0%, VRAM 2728MHz, max perf +15% PL, VRAM 2728MHz.
This is ZIP for all 3 profiles, will create result table soon.
After checking every morning, lunchtime and evening for the past month, the Liquid Devil 7900XTX is finally in stock! Got my order in, will be a nice upgrade from my Radeon VII. Just waiting on my new case and to decide which AM5 board to go for...
I wish I waited a few more days before purchasing my RX 7900XT as it comes with the last of us part 1 game bundle now and I was planning on buying that.
