Does anyone have a copy of Hogwarts legacy?
Id be keen to see what kind of power it's drawing and particularly soiking as it's causing my machine to crash completely ( PSU goes click) often just at the shady coming screen and then won't respond unless I switch the psu completly off and on again.
I only have a 750w PSU as mentioned before and was worried it could be an issue. @gupsterg did you say you were on 750w as well?

5800x3d, b450 tomahawk max, sf750w Corsair PSU, 4*8gb 3600 MHz crucial ballistix and a red devil 7900xtx

Decent 750W should be OK, but if old PSU could be it has degraded.

I'm on 850W, HW as in my sig, with 9x 120mm fan, 2x 140mm fan, D5 pump, RGB on WB and case.

Max draw from wall my system been ~650W AC side, CPU/RAM/GPU OC'd.

Decent PSU are rated DC side, so the 650W from wall ~585W if 90% efficency.

Used MBA XTX, Nitro+ XTX, Red Devil XTX and Merc XTX with 850W EVGA G6 and Coolermaster V850 (not v2).

Apparently the AMD software thinks my card can overclock to 3079mhz

The GPU overclock result in driver panel on RDNA2/3 takes various profile parameters by SMU of GPU.

Based on 4 XTX samples I got seems right.

The cards are very load based for frequency determination, besides usual aspects. Compute loads should exceed result. As limits are never reached in compute test loads I used, fah & MemtestCL. 3D loads results will be just below and at times burst to it if conditions allow.

VRAM frequency can at times swing, which from what I've seen is load based driven by GFXCLK. At times VRAM frequency will drop even if GFXCLK high, as I think memory controller determines utilisation and if needed powerlimit headroom is released to GPU.

SOCCLK gets driven by MEMCLK, max 1500MHz when MEMCLK =/> 2764MHz. SoC voltage increases with MEMCLK and SOCCLK. My Merc has highest attained error free MemtestCL result, as has highest VSOC. Currently not had time to see if SMU set based on silicon profiling or set by VBIOS PPT.

GPU Voltage adjustment in driver Wattman / MCT is a voltage offset. As SMU determine voltage on loaded used, it would be complex for user to set. So we get negative offset, the value of mV in Wattman is max SMU allow, so if set 1125mV, it's -25mV offset. The Stilt's posts are linked in OP of OCN XFX Merc RX 7900 owners thread.

Seems like a bit of effort though.
True, but for people who may not wanna pay for powerlimit increase via purchase of a higher tier card it's useful :) .
Quick question as its a long time since I had an AMD graphics card, does the card only boost to what it needs? As I have just been playing doom and the card was running below its base clock by 200mhz
Yeah "powertune" will do that at times. If you limit FPS it will also do that.

Sounds about right to me, mine sets itself to 3100mhz. In fact, for an easy stable overclock I just took the figures provided by the driver and just set them all individually into a custom profile. 3100mhz for gpu clocks and 2650 for ram and then enabled fast timings. I tweaked the uv a bit more, driver gave me 1125 but I find 1100mv is game stable.

In general.
In general no. It's tripped in two instances - Hogwarts legacy but that has been fixed by limiting power to 90% and on the cod benchmark when on the oc bios of my red devil.

If you're looking to overclock and really push it you'll be cutting it fine. If you're happy at stock or limiting it in certain games 750w at least in my experience is fine.
