The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

Same as the other question :p

If not done already I would update your motherboard bios, chipset drivers and any firmware that your USB devices might need.
all done and same result, if you watch the video a couple of rows up he actually says the AV1 encoding on the 7000 series is better than the 9000. if i run on H265 with 51k bitrate it runs fine, just doesnt like AV1 which is a total pain...

I mean out of codecs actually used on streaming sites av1 is the least important tbh

I really have had quite a day. After disabling CSM thanks to AMD popping up a warning, I realised my legacy USB ports weren't working.

Went to go into the BIOS to have a look but there was no post screen and no way to enter the BIOS.

Tried all the usual windows tricks to try and boot to the bios and none would work. In desperation and also stupidity I set msconfig to boot to safe mode with minimal load and as soon as I hit restart I thought to myself "I've just put myself into a doom loop that I can't get out of cos now I can't get into the bios but windows is now set to only boot to the bios".

True enough, now I couldn't even get to a login screen.

I hit google and clearing CMOS was suggested. However my battery is right under the GPU and I thought to myself if I get that GPU out I'll never get it in again, or break something trying.

I checked my mobo manual (crosshair vii hero) and lo and behold it has a clear cmos button on it! I tried it, it worked! I then had to do a system restore to get out of the msconfig doom loop I had put myself in.

So now everything is back to how it was except for one thing. My legacy USB's are still not working. I have updated all the drivers, double and triple checked the bios and everything is good, but they are just dead at the moment.

I don't need them, I have a glut of USB's between my mobo and my monitor but they are a nice to have.

Regardless, after all the stress of this I need a lie down. Thanks for listening though, I needed to vent :D

Also going from a 3080 to 9070xt reaper. Though PC is currently buried behind a load of stuff as we've just had new carpets.

Do I need to buy TimeSpy to check I'm getting similar results to you?
Nah just download the 3DMark app on Steam, its one of the default benchmarks in there.

Afer a bit of wiggling it's in with a maybe 5mm to spare...

Yes, it's a near 15 year old case!

First impressions are good. Time Spy went from 13349 to 24562 on stock settings, old card is a 3070 FE.
I am in the same boat, it was a real horror trying to see if I could get it to fit in my ancient case! It looks like there is more room there than there is but it was sooo tight. Card had to go in at all sorts of stupid angles and needed a good hard push at one point to scrape past the head of a screw lol.

I think we have the same case? Corsair Carbide 500r? If not, they look very similar!

had the black screen problem with my new 9070xt, after changing PSU's / reinstall operating system / bios setting to Gen 4 / etc

Was about to give up and wait for an AMD driver update, so just tried a HDMI cable instead of DP and bang Windows desktop displayed

Further investigation needed, might try newer DP cable or just wait for new AMD drivers

Put it in the regular RDNA4 rumour thread but have just installed the 9070XT Steel Legend into my current build I'm putting together.

Wonder how many other people are going to be rocking a 265k and 9070XT... A few final touches to put to the build, tidying up cables and installing the rear exhaust then sorting fan curves with FanControl!

Finally got some free time and my reaper fans are pretty frustrating anyone care to share their fan curve. They seem to constantly ramp up and down no matter what.

Having some issues with my 9070 XT :( I did a DDU wipe, I have the latest chipset drivers and BIOS, but my screen keeps going black for 1-3 seconds at a time..

I have:

Powercolor Hellhound 9070 XT
5800X3D
32GB of DDR4
Windows 10
MSI Gaming Plus B550
850w Power Supply

There's no black screen after I run DDU again and it reverts to the basic Windows driver. But as soon as I install the latest version of Adrenaline it starts black screening again...

I've tried messing with the settings, even disabling smart access memory/resize BAR, but nothing works..

Do you have a spare HDD to do fresh windows install? If that then works you know GPU is ok

And you don't lose any data as os on blank drive

Things to consider.

1) Any old software left from old GPU? MSI Afterburner etc?
2) Have you tested the GPU using Furmark 2 for image issues? This could relate to faulty VRAM.
3) Have you looked in Device Manager to see if everything is working there?
4) What is the PCI-E setting in BIOS? I have read you can change it to PCI-e 4 for stability. Rather than PCI- e 5.
5) Try another cable or port. If cable solves it, then no need to worry, if not try another port on GPU.

Just some idea's to assist.

I initially struggled to have the magnetic plate flush as my 12x6 cable had bulky plastic, but got it all in nicely and it managed to fit flush so now I'm happy with it.

How are you controlling the RGB?
Connection to motherboard or software with the card?
