The real Mo Farah (or not...)

I think he would have been better off with his mother,
I'm not clear how he escaped his captors and supported himself, I'm sure there's an explanation, there always is.

Sure, when he was 9! You think he would be better off now being deported back to his mother as Knighted grown adult?

And what does it matter how he escapes his captors? You suggesting he planned it all as a 9 year old, escaping was part of the plan to get british citizenship?

I heard the explanation on the news yesterday, so you've really researched this well....

He convinced the family that he was essentially a slave for, to enroll him at school.

Eventually he confided in a PE teacher about what was happening. I assume he showed great promise in track and field and had a good relationship with his teacher.

Aha did he now excellent
Actually so how did he register at school? Why didn't the teacher report it to the police? How did he even have an identity?
How did his captors explain to the school their position?
Presumably when he was 16 he got a job somewhere and accommodation and joined an athletics club. All with no legal identity.
Apart from anything else he could have gone to the police at any time, why didn't he?

The whole story would need a lot of people in responsible jobs to be incompetent or turn a blind eye and for him not to miss his mother at all.
All we really know is that he wasn't a genuine refugee. I don't need to know anything else quite frankly and it doesn't surprise me one bit.

You've only got to look at how the establishment sucked up to various other characters over the years to see how gullible they are.

Pretty sure BBC news has the same front page in England and Scotland.
They are different, you can change the nation which determines what news you see. It’ll generally strip out stories only relevant to the respective country.
Though, the only difference at the moment is that the English site doesn’t show the “UK government asks judges to dismiss indyref2 case” and the Scottish site doesn’t show that “Klopp to be given freedom of Liverpool honour”.
I’m on my phone otherwise I’d post screenshots.
Both mention this story in the main bit of news though so not sure what Dirk is looking at! Unless he’s moved into bbc.co.uk/news/Scotland which ain’t the hompage.

OK so MET may investigate family ..bbc articles on r4today didn't address that

Times :
A couple accused of trafficking Mo Farah into the UK and abusing him as a child face a potential investigation after Scotland Yard confirmed that it was “assessing” allegations made by the winner of four Olympic gold medals.

Now I am not saying Farah or whatever his real name is should be equated with these Muslim rapists, not all, but he hasn't chosen a very good news week to go hunting sympathy for illegal immigrants, or immigrants
For the avoidance of doubt, you can feel free to refer to him as Sir Mo Farah.

If you're not saying the man should be equated with this other subject, then why have you mentioned it?

I'm not looking at any of them, I'm not in the UK at the moment, and I didn't bring the BBC into the conversation.

I'm not suggesting anything I'm just pointing out the flaws in his story.
I suspect he was here illegally, he has known it all along, he had a family looking after him and he now has to explain it all for some reason. So he has embellished it to garner sympathy and maintain his current status. Or he could be telling the truth.

And?

Regardless of how he got here, we all know it wasn't his idea or his plan. There was no way he could have planned it as a 9 year old so can't blame him for coming here, legally or not as he was a child, the victim in human trafficking.

Therefore the story of what happened afterwards, to me, is irrelevant. What could be checked is his story that he told the teacher, another individual, not a relative, a person in a position of power. People can check that and ask the school or that teacher, if he's still around.

What happened afterwards, his achievements, are his own. And it's not like he came he to steal your job, your gold medal and your knighthood.

I mean come on, the main witness in the case is MF you couldn't make it up, Waits for someone to point out that MF as a refugee gets legal aid.

The Teacher was on TV last night in the documentary and GMB this morning.
The teacher then started the ball rolling so all the services have known about Mo and his real name since he was a young teenager.
the teacher ended up being his best man at his wedding.
Mo is also in contact with the real Mo Farah who the trafficker made him pretend to be.
This is about telling everybody else about his story, the authorities have known since he told his teacher.

Our authorities have known about it since he told his teacher, this is being truthful with his fans etc

I don't watch bbc special reports, a long time ago I witnessed one being filmed, they present what they want to present, as for gmb blimey that's low.

He's either over dramatised the whole thing or it didn't really happen, so much of it is implausible.
Was he kidnapped and used as a slave ,provided with a false identity and all the papers etc.?
If the authorities new they should have gone after the perps.

He wasn't kidnapped as such.
He was sent to live with his Uncle in another part of Somalia because his Dad had been killed and his Mother couldn't look after him and his twin brother.
He was sent to the UK with another woman who told him his name was Mohamed Farah.
While living with this woman he was expected to look after her little kids, cook & clean.
He never mentions cruelty but he was a 9 year old scared to death.
He eventually talks her into going to school and after several years comes clean to his PE teacher because at this point he was a brilliant young athlete.
The woman left him with another family after he was found out to be someone else and she disappeared.
The teacher applied for UK Citizenship for him and succeeded because they wanted him to compete in Europe.

Absolutely everybody who needs to know about this knew many years ago when he was a child, it's only know he needs to come clean because he's had to tell many lies to interviewers about his past. eg he came to the UK with his Mum & Dad when he was 9 but his Dad had already been killed in Somalia.
It's a really sad story and it's a wonder he ever became so brilliant.

100%

It's an amazing tale of courage and personal achievement against all the odds, and it's also a tribute to some amazing people like his PE teacher.

Unfortunately, stories like this also unearth some downright disgusting attitudes within our society.
