I shoul dbe able to built battleships by tonight (7 days since i joined), going to research into hyperspace tech when the current research ends then i can start building them, have 5 fleets with res is coming back in 10 mins (got a lecture thou so don't have time to sent them out again), but got 150 missiles, and 20 lasers with a Small Shield (could get a large one but not enough res), got Ion Canon too if only i got enough res !

Really need to get more slots and bigger fleet.

p.s. what is the capacity of a large cargo ship and how much faster are they compare to the small ones?
 
they hold 25k and are faster initially, but once you research impulse engines level 6 (could be wrong on that) they smaller cargos become faster.
I still prefer the bigger ones though as they have better armour and shields, and don't blow up as easily when you attack places with defenses.

Edit - They're also cheaper to build per unit of storage space.

Long way to battleships from starting hyperspace tech, the hardest part is getting hyperspace engines to level 4.
 
Does any one know if Bob and akkrain have any defense on their planets in galaxy 9?
I might just build and launch a few missiles before I go, or have they stopped pestering every one?

Neither have bothered me for close to a week. I actually got into a pleasant discussion with bobk about Ogame tactics, and he seemed a decent bloke, which was surprising. Maybe they've just decided to leave us alone now.

They both left Merchant and have joined TBO, along with Chemocles who was in PU (and Trinity before that). I don't know if that means they will leave you alone in TNG space now or if they are just busier elsewhere.
 
I've got planet 11 in our solar system.

I seem to remember someone mentioning there's no point in solar satellites that far out. Is that right?
 
Its quite amazing how people will build up a main planet with defence etc then build colonies with absolutley no defence what so ever, and build up huge piles of res. Still, I'm not complaining :cool:

You are right to a degree. I too have a planet 11 in Uni 7 and haven't bothered with Sat's. Being so far from the sun, they generte far less energy to planets in positions 1 & 2.

Problem is Solar plants get expensive - I've got level 20 plant at the moment. To upgrade to level 21 costs 250K Metal, 100K Crystal.

My arguement is sats get destroyed easily if your planet is attacked - solar plants do not. Anyway planet 11 generates more Deut that planets nearer the sun and this is a far rarer commodity.

Gauss Cannon 2 Anti-ballistic Missile 8
Interplanetary Missiles 6


Would 17 light figters take those out along with 36 small cargo and 4 large cargos?
 
Quick answer = Get speedsim! and read the help/starter guides!

Real answer = nigh on no chance, 30 you'd only have a 70% chance of winning
40 you'd have 100% chance of winning with pretty severe losses (for you at this stage).
17 would make a 100% draw, you'd lose 50k metal 38k crystal in ships too.

Use speedsim to work it out, you will need tech levels to ensure it though.

Sppedsim can be found on the alliance forums, General talk, everything one needs to know about Ogame.

edit: LOL too slow with advice !
 
nevermind, i've sent everything at him, hopfully it'll be enough, he has no fleet anyway and not in an alliance. And i am sure my defence can keep him abay if he decide to attack me.

That sounds a good idea actually, took me a while to find my way. If i started again now i'd know exactly what i was doing and when, have a metal plan all set out.

Even with another 10 heavy fighters you will still come away with losses...

BEst sticking to people without defences for now, unless you can steal enough res off them to cover your losses and still make a decent profit.
