***The (renamed) official Ogame thread***

To begin with, concentrate on research, large Cargos and a hand full of Cruisers. With a bit of luck, you should be able to raid lots of inactive planets. Just spent it on research, with nothing there for them to take, people will leave you alone.

yes but the only problem being that if you get phalanxed then they will know what time your ships return with all that res and will be able to time an attack to hit you one second after they return

i'm sure they won't bother until you're a decently sized target but certainly fir the long-term it doesn't look promising to stay there (mind you most players wouldn't keep their fleet at their homeworld as it's you can find a players homeworld from the statistics listings)

How effective are light fighters and small cargo ships for raiding? I am finally starting to build a fleet after concentrating on defences and have a little score to settle with a neighbour.

cargos are pants for fighting, light fighters are ok for 1 or 2 missles, depending how many. I wouldn't create enemy so fast with anyone, concentrate on finding "free meals" first. Once you have Cruisers, then you can take on people with a little defences. I've got Battleships now, but even now i don't pick fights (stay low would be best i think, at least at the start.). And now and again i find places with 400k of res with no more than 10 missles, 2 lasers as defences.

p.s. found another slot 5 free, hopefully this will have over 300 fields. Had 288, and 298 for the last 2.

Really when you're starting, you want colony ships ASAP. You want to have as many large planets as you possibly can. It is a massive help.
Noted. Gonna build a colony ship next.

I take it you only use colony ships once?

luckly, no one in my Solar System, or the one either side has a moon. How far can that Phalanx can?

They are only used once, and there is no return time. It's a little bug in the game.

Can the weak players with names in green be attacked or are these the ones under noob protection?

They are protected, you can't attack them.

Fair enough. I shall probably have a go at the neighbour calling himself big player. His name is in white so he should not be too far above me, if at all. I suspect he has been blowing res on unprofitable raiding, if his actions towards me are anything to go by. Will maybe try probing first though.

A bug in the game, it does that too when you deploy a fleet.
No, you missed my point. If the colony ship doesn't come back, why would it need a return time?

I've always had a return time when I've deployed ships?

yep single-use only

also don't bother sending them with extra resources as they dissapear magically (you get 500 metal and 500 crystal on a new planet anyway), also any ships sent with a colony ship either for extra fuel capacity or with extra res will return as soon as they get there and won't even deposit the extra res (so don't bother)

I know what you mean, it shouldn't be there, it's a bug in the game...

I tend to give my colonies a healthy start with a 40k metal, 5k crystal and 5k Deut start. Makes things a lot easier and faster in the beginning.

Yay :p . My first nanite factory is being built. It will be ready in 54hrs 29 mins. I'll start pumping out battleships once its built ;)

What a struggle to save all those resources. Had to fight the temptation to build battleships. It better be worth.
