The Return of DFI?

Had several DFI boards and I have never had a single problem with them I think the old Nf250 socket 754 board was a design classic, it had a small processor on the board just to recognise the cpu. You could stick next door's cat in the cpu socket and the little processor would recognise Tiddles, then set the fsb and multipier accordingly :D (before you call the RSPCA, I never did!)

I only just ordered the X38 from Germany a couple of days ago, but obviously if it were available at overclockers I would have got it here! And i'm sure many people will as there is a good market for enthusiast boards.

Seems like the DFI X38 has been really hard to get around the world, with the second batch only arriving at DFI Europe next week!

Looking forward to building my new rig around it.

Well keep us informed on what you find? What is the rest of your spec going to be?

Im up for it if you get rid of the RMA procedure and sort out replacements through yourself.

Right royal pain in the ass when i had to replace my 3 that went pop.

Ultra-D's and SLi-DR's were superb :D

Any guess on price Scottie?

I contacted Overclockers.co.uk over a month ago, asking if they would please stock a certain DFI motherboard, over a month later and I am still waiting for a reply.
I also contacted quite a few other UK etailers with the same question and was greeted with the same answer - nothing . Apart from 1 uk etailer none of the others cared to reply.
Luckily for me, I contacted a motherboard supplier in America a couple of weeks ago, asking the same question, this time I received a reply and have managed to order the motherboard I have been trying to track down for well over a month.
So I know I won't be ordering a DFI mobo from OcUK. Sorry :p.

Never had the chance to upgrade when DFI were all the rage but always heard good things about them, and the colour scheme definitely is unique (arguably better than some of the crummy colour schemes certain bigger manufacturers use :p). The X38 board looks awesome.

it has to be via a UK rma or I would NEVER buy a DFI board again.

I spent almost as much as the board cost me yoyoing a S939 sli dr expert backwards and forwards to the netherlands.

Flakey but awesome for clocking, if RMAs were easy I'd probably have another go.

Expert flakey?

you have to tame a DFI bios but that's what they're all about.

in fact this maximus x38 board is similalr to my DFI boards, once dialled in it's a rock but small adjustments vary the stability wildly.

no no, not clocking/crashing flakey, like switching off and never booting again flakey. I know what I'm doing with BIOS, I had 3 experts in 6 months.

i had 3 DFI 939 boards ...an Expert/SLI-D/Ultra-D never a hiccup with either and i'm typing on the Ultra-D right now which did my A4000+ to 3.65ghz prime stable. :)

bet you can't wait to get your hands on another DFI then :p

Almost certainly going down the Wolfdale route. Then it's either going to be 8800gts or 8800gtx, but if the new 9xxx series cards coincide with the Wolfdale release i'll get one of those. And probably throw a few Ballistix 8500's in. I was going to order some Mushkin with the X38 but I couldn't see the point seeing as the Ballistix have got awesome chips. As you all know it's a dodgy time to upgrade, but I have set a nice foundation with an X38!

I have been impressed with DFI over the years, and I am still currently running a NF3 which has served me flawlessly. I can understand people not wanting to purchase becasue of the RMA situation, which I have to agree isn't the best. But DFI is a small company mostly aiming for the niche market, and I think they are doing a great job. The Bios's speak for themselves, if you're into that kind of thing of course...

I'm sure if Overclockers manage to get a batch in they'll be snapped up in no time! ;)

I could be tempted into using DFI boards if the RMA service was in the UK, I dont like the idea of having to ship the motherboard off to europe & wait with no system for weeks & paying excessive freight charges, same went for Epox - whatever happend to them. . .

I know a lot of people will slate me because you all worship DFI i.e. DFI is the Ancient lost Holy Grail or something, but thats one of the main reasons I've gone back to Abit from Asus as I know very well if I have to RMA a motherboard I'll have a new one shipped to me within a few working days due to Abit having a UK RMA service. :)

I had a right nightmare with an Asus RMA due to a bad flash of the bios - the retards use soldered on bios chips IDIOTS!!! I didn't hear anything after months of chasing up, I ended up going back to Old Skool Abit after 4 or 5 years.
