Had several DFI boards and I have never had a single problem with them I think the old Nf250 socket 754 board was a design classic, it had a small processor on the board just to recognise the cpu. You could stick next door's cat in the cpu socket and the little processor would recognise Tiddles, then set the fsb and multipier accordingly
(before you call the RSPCA, I never did!)
