Based on the news that more NHS workers are leaving their jobs for OnlyFans, what do we think about the rise of this site and people using it more and more to make extra money?

Sign of the times? Empowerment for women? Or something else? Does it cloud realistic expectations among younger people or is that not such a concern as it once was?

I personally think it's a good thing. As I said in the other thread, erotica and pornography used to be looked down upon in the '80s and '90s by some. Now they still are, but to a far lesser extent. The attitudes among the generations have shifted. Access to erotica and pornography participation has grown massively in the 2010s and 2020s, and if people want to make money this way, it doesn't harm anyone and I see nothing wrong with it.

But how sustainable is it for long-term work? Or does it not matter?

It's probably still got a lot of leg room. ;)
Long way till saturation ;)

But over time. It will be same as every other 'fame' based option.

Only the cream of the crop will get the big money. And you'll see these. Everyone else will be getting a meagre wage but still hoping for big bucks.

Same as traditional celebs, actors, porn stars etc etc

Seemingly there’s a market for live streaming a Peloton cycle from the rear. If people are mad enough to pay people to watch them play a game, then I don’t get why they wouldn’t pay for this either.
I just need to pick a good username… Peloasslicks? AhhhPeloAssks. I dunno.

It gives women (and men) control, so in that way it’s good. Vs say you have a pimp controlling your life and fall into the dark world of prostitutio. Or trying to break into porn mags which has a corporate barrier. Onlyfan’s level of entry is merely a phone and internet access. Some undoubtedly make an absurd amount of money but the vast majority do not. There is no shortage of pretty girls out there so it’s a hard nut to crack.

Only a matter of time until the Conservative government makes it illegal in order to force people back into low paid long hours work.

I expect they are missing out on a load of tax too.
And these people are a more desirable target than the billionaires

At least it should be plenty of paper (electronic) trail, but sure, HMRC need to actually target the account first.

Not that i wish to get on the Katie Price bashing bandwagon but i saw on the news that her onlyfans venture failed.

Colour me surprised.

If people want to do it fair play.

Although I can't fathom why anyone would pay money to see some **** and whatnot.

Don't really have a problem with it per se, but the unhealthy parasocial relationships which some users form, and the potential for content to follow the creators round for the rest of their lives (which they may not have fully considered) are legitimate concerns I think.

For some onlyfans pornstars it probably will be quite a good long term prospects, they'll make decent money out of it, and enjoy making 'art' too. A small minority will never have to work again if they do well for a few years. For others it might be a miserable grind where they make very little money and end up hating themselves.

From an outsider's perspective I don't know whether to see it as empowering or degrading. Maybe a bit of both of that's possible lol.

Bit of both.
But I don't feel it's much less degrading to work in a dead end 9-5 job and still be in debt.
