The rise and normalisation of OnlyFans

This 'joke' needs to die as a concept, as it warps the minds of young men too.

Firstly, no amount of sex is going to stretch someone out, but the cognitive dissonance is that if a woman has multiple partners, she is loose, regardless of the fact that if frequent sex actually did cause that, surely someone in a committed, monogamous relationship, that has sex every day for a year, would be in worse shape than someone who has slept with 20 different men, once each, over the same period.

Not too mention the whole Madonna-Whore complex thing.
Totally agree.

What I meant was, I would assume that most of the people who sub to OF aren’t “addicted” (for want of a better word) to the girl/girls they are subbed to. So the majority will be able to take the rational decision to cancel their OF subscription when faced with the choice of that or eating/heating/travel.
I'm not convinced TBH. If someone is choosing to bypass torrents, pornHamster etc in order to cough up cash for that then I think the relationship is already in the creepy zone and life's priorities are muddled.

People drop thousands to get in-game waifus in gacha games, so I would have thought a more intimate and real-time (however fabricated) 'relationship' with a camgirl/boy would be appealing to some indeed

Another thought..

I suspect a percentage of subscribers/followers/donators/viewers are fake, whether it's OF or anywhere else, it's always worth padding your numbers for attention.

I believe pornography and access to online, instant gratification like Only Fans is a huge problem, especially for men. It provides a risk-free solution to sexual gratification and I reckon it has a real impact on humans forging connections in the 'real' world.

Ultimately it's a sign of the times. The same culture is happening elsewhere - people watch gamers or crafters on Twitch, and drop £4 for a sub to support them. It's not unlike the "Buy me a coffee" button on websites with useful apps etc.

Then there is Patreon and similar - paying a little bit to support a creator you enjoy whether it's talking about science, showing off home renovation, travel, whatever. There is now a service culture where people pay small regular transactions for stuff and that's normal. Whereas how I grew up (poor in the 80s/90s) nothing cost anything, because we couldn't afford it. Couldn't afford to buy food from a fast food joint or stop for coffee. Food and coffee at home.

This thing of dropping £5-10 for an online service is totally normal for young people right now. £5 for Prime Gaming to avoid ads. £4 for a sub to your favourite streamer. £4 for the special emoji pack to use in your online chat. OF is just in that same family of transactional service behaviour, but with porn.

lol am guessing you have never dated a woman who has had a child. whilst there maybe some "specialist" flavours of adult material that go against this but in general I would imagine nothing goes up there bigger than a babies girth ;)
You do realise it shrinks back, it doesn't stay 4 inches wide. Also I'm sure people have tried bigger things, there was a video circulating 20 odd years ago of an adult head up there  .

Sexual gratification should carry a risk?? Think you’re the danger here, not porn!

I think some people get addicted to seeing their name on streams or the donation page.

I remember back in the very old days of the Internet people used to pay and collect photo sets of model/adult stars and then show them off to each other. I wonder if this is a similar mind set.

I think its become obvious that the Internet as brought in a parasocial attitude. I see it all the time on Twitter. A woman will type something average and there is a load of guys saying dumb things as though they know the women. The bolder ones will start DM'ing her, some of a sexual photographic nature.

I looked through some of the women who I converse with on there and they have 60K+ followers, and they aren't even doing anything sexual.

There seems to be a female argument going on about the sexualisation of women. Some women promote it while others are against it.

If the planet was not massively over populated and no one was having families I would agree with you. put honestly if a few 10s of millions of people choose to use porn and prostitution as a hassle free of getting their needs and don't bother with real relationships then I don't think it would matter.

if the world population halved I think the planet would breath a figurative sigh of relief

PS women like porn too. the only difference really is in general (not always) women can get physical any time they want where as some blokes literally go years without any success. whilst there may be *some* women who have that problem they are few and far between. in my between wife's period I had an account on plenty of fish and the women on there.werendwfinitely in control.

Asking girls out in real life carries a risk (of rejection). Much easier to not bother these days, unzip and bash the bishop at home (for those I'm referring to). My own situation, well I am in a stable relationship with a couple of kids. I'm talking about singletons who are increasingly rejecting relationships in favour of online gratification.

As @bigmike20vt has pointed out, the world is overpopulated, and just take a look at the energy suppliers thread to see the **** situation some guys find themselves in due to engaging in a "stable relationship with a couple of kids".

I can certainly see both the appeal and the positives from the situation you're describing :p

Actually I believe Europe has a declining birth rate. Don't quote me on that - I'd need to check myself.

Edit to add source: https://www.ined.fr/en/everything_a...loped-countries/birth-death-infant-mortality/

Looks like more people are dying (11.6 per 1000 in 2020) than being born (9.6 per 1000 in 2020) (in Europe).

So it's fair to say we'll have an aging population, with not enough new people to pay tax to support them.
