The Royal Wedding

One good thing about modern culture, it's entirely possible and easy to completely ignore things like this with minimal to no effort.

I don't have a terrestrial TV signal so get no bombardment of this crap via news.
I don't read a newspaper.
I don't listen to radio stations that have any interest in crap like this.
Aside from a couple of forums I'm not on social media.

So thankfully apart from the odd radio news clip about her recent family farce, it won't be affecting me at all. Back in the days of four TV channels and no internet it would have been pretty hard to avoid this crap.

Funny thing is these 2 who were camped outside the hospital (with the creepy dolls) are camped out in Windsor, presumably with blow up Meghan and Harry dolls ready to go.

Since this is obviously one of those threads, if the royals disappeared tomorrow, their estate would still exist would it not?

Thus what impact do they actually have? Is there an UNBIASED study into that at all that isnt carried out by a British institute?

Also it's all fine and well that they bring in the money and we get a small sum towards a budget, then to blow it on bailing out the East Coast line or on useless politically motivated projects.

Dont mind the Royals, not fussed about the coverage. :)

Though proves that so long as you are a rich prince you can get a hot bird if you are a bit ugly and/or ginger. :D

I've got no problems with the new batch but some of the oldies...mind you, the queen's not too shabby at skydiving and Spitting Image wouldn't have been the same without them. The press coverage is a complete load of bill hooks though.

I don't give a **** when there are people out there starving, our Government is ***** and doesn't care. So many more important things people should be thinking about

This.

Sure I wish the newly-weds all the best in their married life, but I'm sick of it being everywhere. Every corner I turn, be it the internet, in the pub or at work, it's all about the bloody wedding. It's just like dubstep and My Little Pony back in 2010! Also, what I don't like is that the wedding is politicised. The patriotism mobilises the my-country-is-better-than-yours attitude i.e. the Ukippers, Britain First etc.

Before anyone chimes in

We are not paying for it, the royal family contribute £380m a year to the treasury and bring in an estimated £2b in revenue through tourism per year.

The royals pay for the private aspects of the wedding e.g. the cake, catering, flowers, dresses, makeup.

The taxpayer pays for the security though which is the lion's share of the wedding costs. Around £6-7m.
