Played a bit more and damn, I cannot wait for more path tracing games now, everything just looks and feels and behaves in such a natural way now, there is no doubt some scenes where the difference isn't immediately noticeable but then there are some scenes where it is a huge upgrade. Still amazed at how well it runs too given what is on show especially when you compare it to the likes of portal rtx, obviously not quite like for like i.e. remix mod vs fine tuned but still, it's very impressive.

Wish we would get some remasters of older games like the batman arkham series, I'm amazed nvidia haven't sponsored this given how good the games were.

I'm extremely excited for avatar now!

Unfortunately the shadow crush makes it unusable, just like what happened with RTGI in Dying Light 2. On top of that the blooming from the broken eye adaptation gets exacerbated further, already a huge negative visually of the game (was fine at launch but when they reworked HDR it broke; stupidly annoying for 1st person driving). Overall not impressed with it, they have to put a lot more work into it & hopefully they will fix it for the expansion.

Performance is what we all expected, I don't think that's really an issue.

Having a look around, seems a lot of people are impressed with performance, many including myself where expecting this to hit very hard given previous path tracing titles and this being open world/very dense.

But agree, there are some glitches/graphical artifacts that could be fixed. All in all, it does what it is suppose to i.e. a tech demo

I did skim watch the video, but I am running at qHD so the internal render resolution is much lower.

Video starts at DLSS render resolution per setting ^^

Steve shows the Nvidia charts for path tracing and re affirms what is known (and confirmed by the Nvidia engineers). It needs higher resolutions to actually work properly. 4k is the target for pixel quantity for PT to work, 1080p isnt really giving the volume of data needed.

Just tried the new overdrive mode on a 7950X3D/4090 and it looks great. However, in combat I experienced massive stuttering when firing Guts as the recoil seemed to stop the game. Might need to check if it’s something that can be cleared up by updating the bios/latest drivers.

The big issue is going to be all the textures also looking worse, etc. But either way its quite clear running RT reflections only with DLSS Quality(the best mode in the game) is sort of an acceptable compromise to get as close to 60FPS as possible.

Imo turning on RT reflections (and throw in shadows as well, since they're near free once RT is enabled; see my tests here https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...a-performance.18910855/page-109#post-35855526) remains the most important visual upgrade; lighting is a boon too, but it depends (on display, time of day, preferences etc.), on medium it's easily justifiable but psycho is more debatable. Next to that I'd say going to 4K DLAA & 120 fps. Frame Gen is a negative, due to the latency (and CP2077 already being a bit iffy in that regard) & the lower image quality. Psycho adds a nice little light bounce and for me during outdoor day time scenes it's worth using if you already have the power to spare, plus I enjoy the added warmth to the image (which is also what I like most about Overdrive). I think that unless they fix Overdrive it will not really be worth considering even with a 6090 when performance will presumably be tamed.

To me eliminating negatives is the most important part of RT, that's why reflections are always great to turn on but otherwise making a good effect nicer is worth a lot less (which is also why I'd say 4K DLAA > Overdrive, because DLAA will help with a lot of screen-wide artifacts, while Overdrive is just a bigger plus in some scenarios, particularly for shadows).

The image bloom I was talking about:

Edit: Don't update if you use AMD GPU, they broke raster performance & FSR

Yeah path tracing looks awesome. The bloom might be overdone, is there a slider for that in settings? Quake II RTX also uses PT, which might explain why I played is again about 5 times :)

I do want to check Cyberpunk when it's cheaper. I do like games pushing hardware though, this is the high bar set, come on Nvidia, AMD and Intel show us what you can do!

Getting around 70FPS out in the open with 4K, Max settings, PT on, FG enabled and Quality DLSS selected, A lot better than I was expecting performance wise but honestly I'm not that blown away, It's ok but not a big step up over normal RT in the "wow" department.

That's by design ... so when the reviews of PT Cyberpunk goes up and they add AMD cards into the mix it makes them look even worse.

Nvidia.... why does that surprise anyone anymore ? Then they will play on their sponsored game it was a glitch on the game devs side nothing to do with them... and once the hype dies down for it and no one will review it again they will suddenly fix it.

It did get worse.. pure spam bots now everywhere for crypto and your fav nofans type spam or gambling sites. Become a bad joke really and him and his childish games on there too.

Yeah, that fella lost the plot. He was doing alright and was well respected before getting involved with Twitter, and by that I mean him opening a Twitter account. Really like what they are doing with SpaceX, but seems he lost the plot the past few years.

Can amd even enable path tracing?
