Yup, sadly the only real upgrade for me would still be a 4080S/4090 :o :( 70ti super could be worthwhile too but doesn't seem worthwhile enough of an upgrade "overall" really.

It will never catch up completely. No matter how much software updates are done the 7900xtx just doesn't have enough dedicated onboard RT silicon to compete with Nvidia's best

And the original Thief games are calling out for it as well.

RTX Remix open beta out now -

All the Micheal Ironside Splinter Cells too, 1, Chaos Theory, Double Agent and Conviction.

Thing is, since these are based on stealth, it could get into weird situations if the lighting changes too much and NPCs will react funny to it.

Thanks

Gave it a try, and I mean yeah but also no thanks. It seems to just make the entire video brighter

Depends on the content you are watching, in some scenarios, it looks great/better than being turned off, others i.e. using 1080P content mainly, it isn't better, this comment pretty much sums up my thoughts:

Been playing around with this on my LG C3 OLED and it does look good under the right circumstances. You pretty much need a high-quality native 4K stream to get the most out of it. The HDR can't really shine with compressed 1080p content. It definitely looks different at lower res, but color banding and all that kind knock it out of whack. As a whole, it looks like maybe a step below native HDR color graded content, and definitely nowhere near how good Dolby Vision HDR looks. Marginal improvement, but a definitely noticeable and appreciated improvement under the right circumstances. It’s also not nearly as power hungry as Super Resolution (maybe pulled an extra 10-15 watts from idle at max when active). So if you like the results, you can just leave it on

Obviously first version too so it will improve with updates as happened with RTX resolution enhancer for videos.

Alas, I won't use it since my main browser is firefox and firefox doesn't support HDR, that and I usually keep the yt window open in a small area of the monitor so wouldn't want hdr for this but it's nice to have the option and prospect of this improving to be able to be applied to games without native HDR support would be very nice (windows auto hdr is ok but so few games support it and I imagine nvidia could do a better job here)
