Card still making coil whine noise strange as the first few days it was fine? I find I put on v sync I stops the noise... Has anyone had coil whine removed by under volting the card? Or should I get ask for replacement.

Try use ichill if possible when playing games (radeon driver interface).
coil whine can be psu related but can maybe be managed by limiting the maximal fps output which also usually evens out the fps for gaming

Rendering silly amounts of FPS causes it as it puts loads of stress on the card. I just cap the FPS using Rivatuner at a point where I stop noticing the difference (usually between 75-90 depending on the game) and it stops almost completely. I can only hear it with my head in the case.

Will try that when I get home but I am getting a 144hz monitor so I don't this fixing the issue. Hate the sound even more so when my tinnitus is active, it's not bad when using a headset.

Come at me bro! :p

Seriously though, how come your Physics is lower? We got same chip, same OC.. can you get your RAM up to 3200Mhz? Did you install the latest chipset drivers? These give a boost on Physics score.

GG on the scoreboard anyway :)

Edit, try a 950Mhz on the HBM especially if you have Samsung, i have 975mv with 950Mhz

Every time I see/read something like this I die a little bit inside. My Samsung memory on my MSI Air Boost OC Vega 56 will only do 925 (maybe 930 but jury is still out as I try to achieve full driver stability.)

Also, what driver is everyone rocking? I keep having to go back to 19.5.2 for stability purpose (at least for BFV) but get better frames with basically any newer driver.

Just luck of the purchase i guess.

I'm on 19.7.5 atm, the new 19.8.1 have no Pixel Format options for my 2 HDMI displays so i rolled back.

I just wish a driver would come out and fix DayZ for me, had stuttering for over 3 years now, its pathetic.

Ok thanks, just wondered if anyone had any personal experience of the card, noise temperatures etc. Some reviews out there I've read seem ok...

I've not flashed it, but it's a brilliant 56. It's got a bigger, arguably better heatsink than the Sapphire, with more fans, and undervolts just as well as any other Vega. It's quiet and runs well, it's passively cooled unless you're gaming. The biggest problem is that it's a long card, and you need to make sure it will fit in your case.

I said I would post screen shots of my Vega 56 Pulse overclock settings several weeks ago, happy to help if I can. Pics 1 – 3 are the GPU settings, pic 4 shows clock speeds and temps etc during Superposition Benchmark 8K. The GPU was warmed up prior to testing. Just click continue to pic or whatever the free image hosting titles my image links.

Just upgraded my old 22" Samsung Syncmaster 120hz monitor to a MSI Optix MAG271CQR Quad HD 27" 144Hz paired with this Vega 56 and it's running like a dream.

CPU / Memory is now the bottleneck (Intel i7-4790 3.60GHz with 8gb Kingston DDR3-1600 RAM) so eagerly watching Ryzen 3600 prices at the min!

Hello. 1 post on the forum. I have a Vega 64 Red Devil and I can only get 1500mhz clocks, to go to 1590 I have to use 50% power and 360w of power. Or I have crap silicone or I dont know. Undervolt works fine 1520mhz with 1.030v and 1090 on the hbm 60c ish temps.

Dont know if using a powertable will improve

I have repasted the card and included some termal pads on the back vrm area, now the back plate does something

Hmm that sounds odd. My Vega 56 does ~1590 MHz using ~180 W. Are you sure your repaste was effective? What are the main GPU temps?

I have a profile using OverdriveNtool, pState 7 is 1668mhz and 1030mv and hbm2 is at 1090 and 955mv (probably dosent do anything but the clocks hold), I run normaly -5 on powertarget. Temps are max 60c and hotspot nerver passes 90c roams around 85c, all of the other temps are also 50 to 70c.

Clocks like this roam 1550mhz+-, if I put 50% power will go to 1590mhz, If I ajust the voltage to 1150 or 1200 50% power it will still stay below 1600mhz.

Tried even more clocks 1750mhz and still no go.

System is a

Ryzen 1600 4ghz
32g of dominator 3200mhz cl16
vega 64red devil
termaltake tough 750w gold
win10
x370 msi pro carbon

at this point I just have the card going to 1520mhz and 1030mv, im sure I did put allot os paste on it to cover all of the bits, the original paste had crap temps and was dry.

@xkillerpn I think that's right, my V64 usually spikes to/above 300w when going near or past 1600 mhz. For 1550ish it can easily do it with even 100w less. Note! For 4K. Lower resolutions are more lenient with voltage & that means less power needed. If you run with minus on the power limit you will definitely get lower clocks unless you've tested the power required for the particular game/app and know the limit exactly. I know for my V64 Nitro+ it basically needs to go to 280-290w (chip alone) for almost max OC performance before hitting the diminishing returns on power/clocks, at least in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Basically for 1600mhz & up, at 4K, you will need to let the chip go past 300w unless you won the most golden of golden chips.

Vega 64 (At least reference) has a driver bug in which 4K will stick voltage to a static 1100MV instead of what I'd put. That's why the power goes up.

Doesn't happen on a 5700XT. Happy to run whatever voltage I set whether my monitor or TV and the power doesn't go up.

For Vega 56/64, the "memory voltage" is actually a core voltage floor. Memory voltage is fixed by the VBIOS (1.2 V for V56, 1.35 V for V64). "Memory voltage" should be set to equal your P6 voltage.
