The RX Vega 56 Owners Thread

I booted up this morning and again my gpu's reverted to the balanced setting so I applied each change one at a time so fingers crossed for tomorrow morning.

If I turn the PC off right now and then turn it back on in a a few minutes or so the tweaked gpu settings will still be there,
However, When I turn it off at night I also flip the switch at the back of the psu, and then the next day the gpu has reverted back to it's default settings,
That shouldn't be the culprit though should it?
Just turned mine on now and it's finally remembered everything. I had to reset the power target to +50 again yesterday and that was all.

My GPU is R9 Fury Tri-X, unlock the SP to 3840, i can reach the stable frequency at 1040mhz.
Is it worth buying a RX Vega 56 to replace my R9 fury?

I read many posts, it seems we can flash Vega 64(Air or liquid?) BIOS to 56 and get the performance close to gtx 1080.
Is it right?

Not sure the reference cooler can reach the stable frequency after flashing Vega 64 liquid BIOS or should i wait for the non-reference card?

thanks.

I had a Fury X and was lucky enough to sell it at the right time when vegas first came out and were out of stock, got £325 for it. So then bought the vega 56 at £385, best thing I could have done.
Flashed to 64 air bios (you cannot go to 64 water bios the temperature max cut off thing is too low, unless you liquid cool it) and it is amazing compared to the fury.
I get performance well past a 1080, more like 1080 custom card speed when i'm overclocked. But I was also very silicon lottery successful.

So in short, yes, if you can get a decent price selling your fury you will be spending around £100 to get a vega 56, then saving another £100+ by 64 bios'ing it, and although the vega takes a bit of getting used to with tweaking the settings.
When you do get the hang of it, it makes it feel like you have cheated the system somehow with the frames you get in games, and also the card feels more like your own as you know how to command it :)

Hope thats of use to you Mr Snow.

Thanks, it is very useful.

I prepare to get C32HG70 and maybe spend more money to pick Vega 64 LC.

Ok so Vince has kindly sent me his Eiswolf 240 to try and get working, I'm going to do a little progress report on here mainly to help anyone else who possesses one and to possibly help me if something goes horrifically wrong.

Wish me luck peeps!

I've been on really stupid shifts at work but tonight is the night!
I will don my scientist lab coat and glasses and sit down to it tonight, taking pictures of my heroic attempt for future generations :D
I just hope it doesn't turn out as useful as taste buds on a bumhole!

Out of interest and i appreciate we're drifting off topic, but how much do you guys spend on your gas+leccy per month?

£30 gas and £30 leccy - for 12 months of the year. During summer when it is warmer and we don't have the heating on, I still buy the gas so that when winter is here I can turn on the heating and not even think about cost as we've built up a good balance of credit. We use a card top up meter.

Electricity is billed quarterly here, I have not yet received a full bill for the new house but the old house was between AUD$630 and $830 per quarter depending on summer & winter. Gas is on top of that and it's $120 a cylinder of LPG which typically lasts 2-3 months at best.

Electricity just went up 20% - we are getting bent over down under LOL.

That's because Australia is sensible with regards to immigration. Every cloud. ;)

Not as sensible as I would hope. It'll happen in my lifetime sadly.

Been away for a week, just drove back from Sydney to Beerwah - left at 04:45 and arrived 18:00hrs, went up "Thunderbolts Way" and the New England Hwy - nice drive but the roads have seen better days. Big Country. Anyway, off track enough.

We shall see. Did it all arrive without taking too much damage? Well apart from the damage I had already done?
