The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

Hi all,

vega user here for a while now, but seems like the windows driver/amd driver gods are against me nowdays, i'd need some help please.

vega64 UV+OC 1440p@144hz perfect, works like a charm.
the problems are starting when i'm using my Oculus Rift. https://vgy.me/19Y8Eq.png
Every power saving setting is disabled on my pc, i've tried to run games with everything else closed, nothing seems to make a difference, GPU is sleeping around 30-40% of utilisation.
However, if i look up in games where is sun or anything of lighting, the FPS goes back to stable 90 and stays there, drops back to 45fps ASW if i look away and wait 3 seconds.

I'll link this comment to the rift thread too, i've did my best with google but wasnt my friend this time :/

Plz HALP!

Anyone noticed the memory flicking to 500MHz now and again ?

Was playing Metro 2033 Redux, and noticed it happening in that, kept flicking to 500MHz from the 945MHz every now and again, so i fired up Prey, as was playing that a while ago, and it seemed to happen in that too, although not as much, seemed to only do it when going up the stairs to your office.

It's gonna take AMD a while to smooth out the Vega side of the driver package so just make sure to put a ticket in, especially for older games like Metro. They probably won't even look at games of a certain age unless they're receiving reports on them. That said if it's a problem showing up in newer titles as well it may be a generic bug where one tweak fixes them all. I'd still report Metro though just to be sure.

Ive never noticed it before, only noticed as i was going through the fonts in RTSS, find a one i like, and i just happened to see it flick to 500MHz while testing a one, so kept looking, and now can't unsee as they say :p

What are your Hz/mV settings in wattman?

I tend to have my mem set to 1045MHz/950mV but seem to remember on one driver set the mem would do what you describe where it would randomly drop down (though for me on the slight o/c it would drop to 800MHz), the fix seemed to be setting it 951mV on GPU P6 and MEM P3. That seemed to keep the mem locked at 1045MHz.
Doesn't seem to happen for me on the newer drivers.

All default, as ive never bothered touching Wattman, im still on the Adrenalin Drivers, the 17.12.1s, doesn't seem to have an affect though, as ive never had any probs while gaming, and if its being doing it for a while, id have noticed something if it was.

If its on balanced preset it was be a mix between power and saving. Setup a Custom wattman and you can get better locked clocks.
Find out what your current core speed is over a 10 min benchmark if its say 1400mhz
and stock wattman is 1532/1647 change p6 to 1432 and p7 to 1547

Also 50+ on the slider

Yeah, as above.. look at setting up custom settings (you can easily get more perf for less power draw). Also, I never ran any of the 17.12.x drivers for long as all showed noticeable performance issues for me (i.e. 20% drop in superposition scores) but the last few 18.2.x drivers have been good for me, though still on 18.2.2 at the mo not got around to trying 18.2.3 yet.

I have noticed with my Vega 64 that when ever my monitors' refresh rate drops to 60hz I get random horizontal lines that flicker across the screen for a split second then disappear (mostly 1-2 inches long, but a couple times its been really bad). They look like a single line of the image has been shifted a couple centimetres to the left (made of the same colours).

This happens even without drivers installed, across multiple monitors, and on the post screen/desktop/in-game. I tried taking screenshots of it in a game, but they weren't visible in them. It seems to occur mostly around vertical shapes/lines. Wattman settings don't have any effect either.

At any other available refresh rate (100, 120, 144) there's no artifacts and everything's fine. Normally this wouldn't be that big a deal (not many reasons to use 60hz), but I needed to use it to get around a bug in KOTOR II and started noticing it.

I was hoping that it was a simple driver problem that would get fixed, but I'm starting to think otherwise.

EDIT: When using a program to force KOTOR II to 60 fps @ 144hz, with freesync on (and dropping the refresh rate to 60hz) it wasn't showing the artifacts; it's only when I manually set the display to 60hz the problem arises. Oh well, I guess I'll just leave it as is for now, unless it gets worse.

Yeah im still be on balanced preset, i also do have an 80fps cap through RTSS as well, but if its just a mix between power and saving, then i'll just leave it, as it doesn't seem to be having an affect, as said.

Ive just been running about in Redux there for a bit, and when the memory was flicking back to 500, i was still sitting on my 80fps cap, and getting no probs, just seems to flick back for a quick split second now and again, a blink and you'll miss it :D

Hi.. Off topic but does anyone here own a vega 64 with hynix ram?

Trying to flash bios on my 56 but none will work even when force flashed.

All the ones in the database are for Samsung ram so I am presuming that the issue.

If so can I I have a copy of your bios please?

Thanks :)
