The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

Hi, it didn't work, hit straight away 379W and stopped :/
However, decided to go back to my previous overclock that raptorpg got 26011. Tweaked it a bit

26600 Graphic score :D at 280W. Still I have 90W to hit the limit of the card :p

379w  how? Mine peaks at around 290w chip power running 1150mv core voltage. That's why I stop at 1150mv, I refuse to run this card over 300w when gaming. Sure, I could bump to 1250mv and hit the absolute ceiling, at that point I can hit 1800mhz core speed stable, but there's no way I'm running the card at Nuclear levels of power lol

nice score btw.

Idk mate. It started well at 296W then saw the power indicator going 379 and crash on second test.
I am as baffled as you are but was too tired to investigate so went to bed. And the card had worked in the past with 1200mv also, and does also if I reset everything.
Or there was in relation to the crash that wrote 379. But I will play today with the setting, as I cannot do after tomorrow.
Starting a new contract in Bristol so I will have only access to my laptop all week.

@TonyTurbo78 look at this one. What you see?

https://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/16213471/fs/16213179/fs/16210539#

The middle one which clocked to 1788 even if i had set the clock to 1712, yet it decided to go nuts, without much perf gain.
Also it seems my GPU likes P7 1702 @ 1100mv and then anything higher than 1702 that has to be 1170mv. Even 1712 has to be 1170mv

So numerous failed attempts last half hour, decided to go on dynamic overclock 6% (set the card to P7 1722) and manually set the power settings.

And this resulting to 26966 graphic score on FS  I know is over my 300W target lol. But worthy to bother Kaap to put it on the board :D

Right, I've just pulled the trigger on the Red Devil 64. Arrives Tuesday or Wednesday ( I assume Overclockers won't ship on a bank holiday Monday?)

Anyway, to save me reading the entire thread, is there anything I need to know as a new owner? Any tips on overclocking it?

I'm coming from an r9 390 and overclock using afterburner.

Thanks!

Nice.
You probably won't get the card til Tuesday I have never gotten my stuff on bank holidays. As for overclocking, the last 10 pages or so on this thread will tell you everything you need to know :)

I bet you'd get 27k+ if you overclocked your cpu to 5.2ghz.

@Lokken86 @Panos Yep 5.2 on cpu would do it, I know I can run 1800mhz as well which will clear 27k but I'm not prepared to push it anymore. I pushed 1850mhz a year or so and got massive issues with the card, which took me a day to sort out, not going through that again. I'm massively happy with the score Vega getting now, just shy of 27k is very respectable for apparently a terrible card. Lol

LOL :D
I am happy heaving beaten my old GTX1080 @2190 :D

Thought about it, but cannot be bothered logging to bios :p

How are you doing with your card?
I haven't had time to check it yet but I'm going to try some games to see if 1600mhz or 1640mhz is holding since it can actually run with those clocks. I think it might as I suspect because gt1 in Firestrike has very high fps it's likely to heat up more and throttle more then say a game at 60fs locked.

Ignoring the price for the moment, how does the Strix compare to the Powercolour? I was quite tempted by the Powercolour but it doesn't have DVI. My monitor only has DVI so I would need to run it with an active DP to DVI adapter. I do have one so there won't be any additional cost but I'm unsure whether it will introduce latency. The Strix does have a DVI port but I've heard that it has issues with VRM cooling. Thanks.

There's a 6 week old Strix 64 going on the MM for £400.

I think I'd get that TBH.

Thanks. That's why I asked, although the last Vega 64 sold for £350. But I've seen a few poor reviews of the Strix.

There is a video comparing all Vega 64s. Strix performance is even behind the reference card.
Is the worst V64 sample, yet used as reference of Vega 64 performance by some youtubers like Hardware Unboxed, and to everyone who argued about it he called them an AMD fanboys... -_-
Nitro+ and Red Devil are the two best Vega 64s followed by reference boards.
