The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

latest driver brilliant here. So pleased, HEVC recording bug fixed, no stuttering on video playback and now rock solid 1720/1100 gaming. I'm so happy with this card.

Curious about some of your Wattman settings. What did you set for power limit, P6 and P7 voltage and core clocks? Is your actual measured max clock the same as P7?

These pretty much, just upped the core and memory a nudge on new driver. Power limit at +50

Just done a 20 minute bench of Firestrike, with a few overlays on screen for you guys to see what settings I'm at for future reference if needed. I've now dropped my core and voltage a tad for definite stability, this will be final 24/7 settings for gaming now. I've benched at 1750/1100 so at 1700/1080 it's given it a bit of breathing space.

I'm very impressed with the absolute solid core and memory clock speeds, just no dips or fluctuations at all. Interestingly only 63c on the Hotspot in GPU-Z and a max core temp of 39c and max HBM temp of 40c.

click for a big one :)

Anyone with a 64 AC like to post their under volting settings and performance. Under Volting for me doesn't seem to yield any performance gains even if I up the power limit. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I now have three RX Vega 64's and my third 64 clocks just as well as the one leading the Vega pack on the scoreboards. It reaches exactly the same clocks, but appears to run a dash cooler and only a 1c difference in CoreVsHBM temps from what i have seen.
Tested the 3rd card a bit more, 1100Mhz HBM is bench stable but whilst gaming i get some artifacts so settled for 1075. My 2nd card is the same. These two will go in the Threadripper system for CrossFire.

The best clocking Vega 64, card 1, will live on its own and be a strong, independent woman.

Is it possible to get myself removed from the TROH , I'm gonna return my Vega 64 , it's just simply not good enough for me to keep it over the 1080FE. Shame though as it is a bloody nice looking card.

I'm sure Kaap will remove it for you, and i look forward to you beating my Superposition and Firestrike scores. :p

@AMDMatt how much knowledge you got of flashing Bios on GPU's Matt? I'm about to stick an LC bios onto mine for a bit more power, I've backed my bios up, got ATIFlash and the ROMS ready on thumb drive, but want to double check I can use any of the Sapphire LC Bios's uploaded onto Techpowerup???

The Vega will probably pull away over time but why did you get one if you already had a card like that?
I have always had Radeon cards until I brought the 1080 as my RX480 was a bit slow at PUBG , and there was nothing from the AMD range at the time, albeit the RX580 was any better.

I was hoping the default cooler on the Vega 64 was close to the level of the 1080 FE which its pretty impressive to say the least , but it is several levels higher.

The performance as well , is not quite there yet vs the 1080 as well. Wasn't really bothered about the power consumption at all.

Ill be back I'm sure if any of the AIB are any good. I cant justify having circa £550 worth of kit not being used.

A reasonable amount, mate. I've been using ATIFLASH (internal build) to update to the latest Vega 64 Liquid Bios, not sure if its publicly available yet so cannot share. That said, flash that LC bios my man, you are on water. You'll likely get higher stable clock than me. :p

Use the latest LC version available on Techpowerup GPU Bios collection.

Surely for even the games were the 1080 does go ahead, we're only talking by a few percent which isn't even going to be noticeable unless you've got a frame counter running?

For example Fallout 4 , the Vega felt very sluggish vs the 1080 using the High Texture Pack , I notice more dips on FPS on the Vega than on the 1080, but I'm guessing Bethesda games are just better on Nvidia hardware.

Also on PUBG , it is just a stutterfest.

Don't get me started on No Man's Sky

Overwatch is about the same , maybe a smidge better on the Vega if I was to pick

I only have the Steam FPS counter running and usually only run 60 FPS capped except on PUBG

Are you able to mention the difference in the bios? You don't typically see new bios after launch unless there are issues. My MSI 970 had a bios update because the Fans were basically broken on the launch bios.

Also on PUBG , it is just a stutterfest.
I don't have this issue with PUBG and I play a lot of it. Can you describe what you were experiencing and the settings you were using(in game and driver)?

which one is the latest dude, when compiled or when uploaded? It seems the latest one uploaded has a lower Bios number version.

This one is latest uploaded, but compliled a long time ago
Sapphire RX Vega 64 8 GB

Then there is this one

and this one

I would have thought 8734 was the latest right?

My Sapphire BIOS (Reference Air) is 016.001.001.000.008730 not sure if it's worth updating? Am still on air as I don't have time to install the EK block at the moment so unless folks think it's worth updating in the meantime I guess I could wait and go for the AIO BIOS once a block is fitted.

The bios on my LC 64 card is 8709. I also still have the bios files from my first LC 64 however ATIwinflash doesn't show what the version is like GPU-Z.

Edit: I just checked the low power bios and it's 9708. I would appear the high power versions are the higher number of the two.

I did notice a glitch. If I play a game or anything GPU intensive, then often the card will not calm down.
Only if I notice that the case fans go up and down and then see six of the red LED going, but I am on the desktop for a long time and by now it should be running at low frequencies. Only reboot fixes that.

//edit: actual playing the game is 4 red LED, desktop is 1 red LED, no idea why before reboot 6 red LED were on while being on the desktop.

17.9.1 and stock settings for the Radeon , and Ultra everything except for Foilage.

It seems like the graphics are not cached every now and then , and takes a split moment to load thus causing a bit of stutter / lag. Not good when in a middle of a gun fight.

This is what I get on my 64 air with P6: 1602/1050mV, P7: 1722/1090mV. HBM2: 1090/950mV(just tried this as some think it stabilises things!). Because it's air I set the fan to 3318/4818 and the temp target to 73C. Doesn't crash but sounds like a jet engine taking off ;)

EDIT: This is with HBCC on. Need to test the same settings with it off. EDIT 2: changed that around as it WAS on. EDIT3: +50% power limit.
