Oh God!! To the Internet!!

Finally decided to sit down and flash my phone to the latest Italian unbranded... actually went without a problem

so I was really happy...

Decided to hook it up to PC Tools and it found an update for the firmware... Ok I thought, it's done it once....

Got to the stage where it rebooted to the blue screen boot loader on the phone and low and behold Windows decides to Blue Screen on me :eek:

Omnia's just sat there with a blue screen... confused, I panic and yank the battery out... pray that it'll be alright, try to turn it back on and it stays at the Omnia load screen

So I take it back out... Wait ten minutes and try again.... YES!! My phone came back to life

Just out of interest... if it was actually updating the firmware when windows failed... would I be left with an irreparable shiny brick??

Same thing happened to me trying to do update. I also took battery out and all was well on switching back on.

However a bit nervy about to try again as if it does start reflashing and looses link, think the phone ends up knackered.

Maybe better downloading files and doing it that way.

How does this OS compare to the iphone and android in terms of how 'slick' they are?

Ordered this phone from Orange, going to come on Tuesday!

Any thing I need to know before hand, any settings need changing, any tips?

Yep. Get rid of the orange branding and you'll be good to go. The browser is a bit buggy but there is not another out yet that works well. Have a look on this site for anything you need to know.

If you can try it for a bit before taking the plunge, I would. I regret getting mine a little as it's not whizzy enough for my liking.

This seems to be the general concensus of most touch screen users, myself included, as nothing is as seemless as the iPhone...

I think I will do one of these walks into an Orange Shop and ask to try some out.

Head over to the Samsung i8910 forums, you can flash it to a more recent firmware.

Is it just me or is the sound from music player not that good? I put in my CX300's (headphones) and could notice the differnce straight away compared to my N95. The bass is much deeper and clearer on the N95. The music player is one of the main things I used on my N95. Thought it would be better then my N95 not worse.

It IS better better with music than the N95.

Have you fiddled with anything you shouldnt have?

Nope

And the sound is no where near the N95 for me. :confused:
