Class.

Do you mind explaining what all the latin (i think?) means?

Thanks for the comments guys! Im at a conference today but i'll explain the tat later tonight as it needs a bit of a mini essay :)

Hopefully going to speak to my artist sometime in the next couple of weeks about getting my sleeve design started :D Can't wait!

I think that's an amazing tattoo... If you don't mind me asking what's the significance? Obv if it's private then it's none of my business, just interested :)

Right... so the tattoo!

Basically, it's the climax of an entire 3hr and 20minute Opera, that personally makes me feel the most joy, happiness and love I could ever feel but also drags me to the deepest sorrows, pain and heartache that can be physically possible.

This moment, where the Count is caught out by everyone as a cheat and chasing after girls who aren't his wife - he finally realises how much hurt and pain he causes the Countess.

Now the words, on their own seem somewhat of an anti-climax on their own - he says "Countess, Forgive me". BUT, when you hear this music, it is infinitely more than the words. You truly believe that he is sorry this time, and that he can change (if only for a minute). And so, the Countess, says to him (the line from my tattoo):

"Piu docile io sono, e dico di si, (e dico di si)"

"I am kinder than you ... and so I say yes"

And she forgives him. And it's at that exact moment that this horrible tragic story of a man who is evil to the core with regards to his wife, is forgiven by the true meaning of love.

When I listen to this piece, it not only fills me with immeasurable joy - it also restores my faith in humanity (which is often questioned by society today). Is she can forgive him in this moment, then anything is possible, and love truly can conquer all. It's the music of true forgiveness.

Then the chorus sing "Ah, tutti contenti" - "Now we shall all be happy".

I'm a musician (classical guitar and piano) and I find this piece the single most inspirational piece of music in the world. To transform hollow words into a melody that actually moves you so much is to me, pure genius.

And so basically, I wanted to have this on me, for all time so that whenever I am sad, whenever I am hurt, whenever things don't go my way I can look at it and remember what is possible, and the feeling of pure joy that this music gives me!

Wow, so yes quite a spiel there - but I hope I can convey at least partly what it means to me :)

And here's more from the final piece of the opera, I beg you - take 6 minutes out of your day, and instead of just listening - HEAR what the music is and what it does to you :) My tattoo line is at 2:40 in it...

Ha! That's ok ... I knew it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea but you guys did ask what it was about :p

It's very difficult to explain, I think it's something you either have or don't (as with most things people are passionate about I suppose) ...

But there's something that just, resonates with me about music like this. There's a famous pianist (Misuko Uchida) who once said ... "With some people, music can make them feel something. And music makes me feel things. But this music, moves me."

And I understand what she says :)

Did you watch the vid btw? :p

I was all geared up to get mine started today and they cancelled my appointment at the last minute :(

They might be able to fit me in at the end of next week, or maybe the week after. Great.
