^ The Surge ^

It's a bit different to the Batman games, or Shadow of Mordor. I'm a bit of a noob with Dark Souls (~20 hours game time) but love the combat (Although the world map is my favourite bit - mindblowing)

It's not so much slow as it is deliberate. The weapons have weight, so a swing and miss can really cost you.

batman is very good, liked arkum asylum on 360 very much till i got into other games so didnt complete it, never played the new one, just not liking the look of this DS3, just something about the combat is off putting regardless of weight physics.

can see this going one of 2 ways, either be a nice take on the genre or more of the same/ clunky LotF in space

I couldn't get on with LotF but partially as it was trying too hard to tell a story.the gameplay felt decent but just a bit too heavy coming from the souls series

Wasn't that by design? Almost reminded me of playing Warhammer style, huge slab of a man with a shield that was laughably large.

Caved.

Release Time
Hi everyone,

Official info about release time.

The Surge releases at 00:00 CEST // 03:00pm PDT on Steam.

There won't be any preload.

Regards

Initial impressions are it's okay, I've never played Dark Souls so can't compare but it does feel like Lords of the Fallen which I did try.

Graphics are decent, smooth framerate outside set to Very High (ingame max) with Blur turned off - Gets me 40-60fps 970GTX.

Will have another 15 mins then bed !

21:9 is flawless all had to do was select 21:9 hud option..

game is nice so far but only just started and got my suit :D

From the videos the game looks quite good but never played any of the dark souls games.

don't have 39.99 to spend on a game tho so maybe one to look out for down the line

may not run too well though on my system though.

still running a I7 950 and 6GB of ram with a Nitro 390

If you fancy a souls-like, but have never played Dark Souls, then why not just get Dark Souls :p

(especially when price and old hardware is an issue)

You can get the first one for a fiver, if you're patient (comes up on the Humble store or Steam etc at that price in sales). Having only recently started DS1, I can say it's fantastic.

It looks interesting, but I'll wait to see when more reviews and gameplay come in. Never did like Souls games because I am bad at 'em.

I was awful at Lords of the Fallen playing with mouse and keyboard but this game works great.

The Surge at first was difficult for me, I was running in bashing stuff and respawning. Once I got the tactics and aiming down it became fluent and intuitive, not easy, where I only died because I got complacent.

I imagine that the repetitive nature of the game might start to wain my enthusiasm but atm it's good fun.

That is a possibility with the steam sale coming up at some point (think end of June) as I'm looking at another game to play.

You have darksiders 2 which I started and never finished but that was not a bad game
