The Tesla Thread

Just been watching the first YT vids for Beta 10 and I'm almost ready to buy it myself now. I was waiting for the Model Y to combine the order but may just stick with the Model 3 for now. Trying to put it off until just before they announce another price increase.

Bad start position in the vid below as they should have started on a road where the car could clearly see two kerbs. Not meant for offroad use yet.

Impressive. Based on that, you'd expect it to be utterly amazing in a few years time.

These are highly recommended on some other forums. Clip on, no drilling and they're a decent fit :)

In some colder countries (Canada etc) they gave mud flaps to customers for free. I don't believe they gave PPF just a set of flaps with the extension that you can fit if you wanted.

Recently say a Bjorn vid where they were receiving Model Ys with PPF and "mud flaps" though it's more salt flaps over there.

Anyway if Tesla have another good Q3/Q4, well it's almost a given. They may issue free flaps like they did they did at the end of 2019.

Still have mine in a box so will fit them before winter now I've decided to buy my SR+ at the end pf the PCP.

Shortly watched an AI DRIVR vid and it was even more impressive how FSD handled busy city junctions.

At one point he forced the car to turn into a very tight street and the car folded the wing mirrors in! Presenter just breezed over that but I was quite impressed by that small detail.

Yes, that’s what I saw which is why I asked if anyone had floor then here with recent deliveries.

Does Tesla supply/fit the PPF for the rear arches and mud flaps in the UK? I've seen it mentioned that they do in some countries.

My week old Model 3 LR came with the small front mud flaps fitted and longer ones in a wee bag in the boot.

I bought myself some colour coded flaps a month ago in preparation for the car arriving. I like how they look and the paint match is nearly spot on:

Currently sold out though: https://www.torque-alliance.com/pro...drilling-baking-finish?variant=31212750078054

Is it mostly cosmetic? Mine are still in a box and never been motivated enough to fit them, as don't care about the paint much. Car was checked for ingress at last service visit, and no issues. Is it more about corrosion?

There have been quite a few issues with salt/grit taking off the paint on the sills and rear arches in Europe.

Any model 3 owners comment on the internal noise when driving? Seen a few vids on youtube claiming it's not a quiet car to drive, though opinion seems to be mixed on that being the case or it's the driver just picking up on other noises more since theres no engine sound. Also noticed a company making more seals for the car to suppodly cut down on wind noise and make the door close sound more like a regular car .

I’d check Bjorn Nylands comparison spreadsheet if you want an objective measure. His tested pretty much everything on sale in Europe.

Thx, seen a few vids on youtube with db meters etc. Might take a test drive at some point and see for myself, i would imagine that the absence of engine noise just makes your ears tune into everything else, though.

Interesting vid, almost rammed a car through a wall.

The american driving test seems farcially lax to say the least, it seems to be parallel park, drive about a bit and thats your lot.

from a purely "basic" point of view - Had mine 2 years and can't say I notice anything major in terms of internal noise.... Nothing obviously different to any other car.

Taking a test drive tomorrow out of pure curiosity, was down today having a look and the model 3 was surprisingly impressive looking. It just looks like a car vs other efforts that looked over the top. Interior was nice, dash was pretty odd with just a mutant sized ipad slapped onto it . But it was very responsive, about the same as my s21, a lot of cars have touch screens that seem laggy and cheap, not the case for the tesla.

Gave autopilot (The standard basic free one) a go for the 1st time today on the commute (At 5.15am so roads were dead) and was very impressed. The car managed 25 miles of the 30 miles total without any issues.

With no music on at 70mph the thing is virtually silent but for the tyre noise on the "less maintained" patches of road surface. Its a nice way to travel to work.

zero issues with main screen - very responsive...No lag at all for me.

I'd be interested in an update on ability to avoid cyclists V

That linked article is from 2017 on v1 AP hardware. Current hardware is v3.5 or FSD v1.0 so much better.

The beta FSD software using just vision is now using vector predictions to map the movement of entities around the car and can track objects obscured from vision which helps a lot.

Dirty Tesla has just posted a vid on YT showing the FSD software stopping for pedestrians at or approaching cross walks (US based of course). One example showed a cyclist off camera rapid approach a cross walk without slowing or anything and the car stopped until they passed.
