The thread which sometimes talks about RDNA2

Ideally they would have to test with both especially if the 10900K still ends up being faster for nvidia Gpus which can use the SAM.

In gaming it will be interesting to see, nvidia also uses AMD CPUs for benchmarking. there was an announcement a while back.

I doubt we will see any intel CPU used for Timespy extreme benchmarking unless it’s for the laughs. AMD ate intel’s lunch on that one a while back.

It will be fun to see the Intel results but i feel that ship has sailed for now, i can’t see Intel getting many new sales out of this forum once the 5000 hits. There will be little reason to buy an intel chip and that’s coming from someone who has not bought an AMD CPU since 2000.

The leaked Ray tracing performance of the 6800 matching the 3070 is pretty incredible for their first go at it. That will be more than enough RT performance to last the gen as the new consoles have about half the RT perf.
It actually doesn't. The news sites compared medium-high settings in the leak with Ultra on the Nvidia cards. Quality shadows being one of the major settings turned off. I don't think anyone has gone and replicated the exact settings with a 3500 to compare.

Youtube are using AMD rigs to test the 3000 cards(which makes then slower)

I have a [email protected] all cores when I game.
I don't see what your trying to get at? Not everyone will have a AMD\Intel rig.
To be fair, all testing should be done on both.

You must be drawing about 350W from your CPU alone. Intel's architecture and node is archaic, the sooner they move on the better for the industry.

I expect the next few months will reveal how valuable AMDs SAM really is.

It clearly is more than simply rebranding existing work but is it that much more developed that others can't immediately yoink this advancement for themselves.

I imagine the work AMD is putting in is quite valuable for itself since it makes the components at both ends which is great for guaranteeing a feature works.

Everyone else wanting a bit of this has to go in for cooperating with competitors which is much less attractive. Perhaps no one but AMD could have brought this tech forward.

Right, resizeable BAR support in the OS is just the path to allow this to work, its not even the beginning of SAM, SAM is specific hardware IP on the CPU and GPU, Nvidia / Intel would have to create their own versions of it and it would have to work differently given that AMD own the IP for how they do it, even if Nvidia / Intel create their own versions of it in future CPU's / GPU's and you wanted it in Intel CPU plus Nvidia GPU form those two they would have to work together on it.

Should they have always tested on both or is that just now if AMD are faster?

@LtMatt do i get a free GPU for getting the RDNA2 predictions right? :D
Why, what did you give AMD when you got it wrong the past few times? :p

Just kidding, the amount of hype you generate on each launch for that company, maybe they should give you one. But maybe a 6700 :p

Actually, I take it back, you don’t even deserve that after telling us all how happy you was with your 5700XT for months on end and then selling it to buy an nvidia GPU. Lol :D

Just messing with ya humbug, I hope you do take it in the good spirit it is dished out in ;)

I would be quite happy with a 6800 None XT and a 5600X

i know :)

I just sold my Vega 64 nitro+ for 220 which I'm fine with for a 2-year-old GPU during a new release of GPU's. While I'm not impressed at all with the pricing of the 6800 non-XT it will most likely be what I'm going for to power my 1440p monitor. I thought about the 3070 for a second but it's just too weak of a card from looking at the initial reviews.

Its a solid 20% faster than the 3070 with 16GB vs 8GB for $80 more, the price is high but its much better value than the RTX 3070, which also doesn't have enough VRam.

I'm thinking the 6700XT is going to be = to the RTX 3070 with 12GB VRam for $50 less at $449.

I said the 6800 None XT was expensive, it is, its too rich for my blood, Nvidia's cards are more expensive and its not just that they also have less VRam, they don't have enough.

Especially with this new lockdown announcement. I was expecting things to be mad on the 18th but they'll be even worse now that people are locked down again. I'm fully expecting to be unable to get a 6800XT.

Exactly lockdown will affect the whole delivery chain, Europe is lockdown too.
Its going to be a tricky time getting any new cards pre Christmas.

First time ive ever been able to and needing a new gpu on launch. I doubt ill get close to getting one, pretty gutting so ill just hope for one as soon as possible!

Does anyone know if AMD are planning on doing any bundle discounts or deals if you buy a Ryzen 5000 cpu together with a Radeon 6000 gpu?

That would be a great incentive for people to upgrade to AMDs latest and greatest platform and the performance benefits that brings :D
