Steve at GN was saying the stock situation depends on which AIB you speak to - some were saying availability was going to be awful, others didn't seem to agree.

Truth is I would fully expect AMD to prioritise their closer partners (like sapphire and others that only make AMD cards) for supply over AIBs like Asus... so in the context of what Steve mentioned above I really wouldn't put too much weight in what Asus are saying about supply as it may well not hold true for reference boards and other AIBs.

Of course I fully expect them to sell out at launch regardless, and no doubt there will be scalping.... but there's a difference between selling out with very few happy punters and selling out with a lot of happy punters!

It just seems really strange. Both companies especially Nvidia would have an idea about the level of demand. Why release way before your able to satisfy demand? Just allows people to profiteer and annoys many others. Strange way to release products.

Its clear why Nvidia did this. And honestly, looking at how badly it's gone. Its pretty pathetic given the position Nvidia has in the GPU market IMO.

wait what? Are you blaming Nvidia for amd not having enough stock of big Navi at launch? How?

Hmm no.

I was referring about Nvidia and Doobedoos comment about "why release way before you're able to satisfy demand" comment :) - apologies if that isn't clear.

The real question is, has it ****** off people enough that they are either boycotting the 3000 series or trying AMD to really vote using the wallet?

It doesn’t sound like we are going to be any happier trying to get a 6XXX.

No it doesnt. I am not worried as too old for that ****. Also dont have time nor inclination to be an F5 spammer or hawking over a discord bot to be first in line. Will have to see what these bot/scalper measures are in place on the launch day to see if they made an effort to curtail the batch buyers in such times.

The problem will be the same for AMD in shortages also, which is a shame but the way it is and people have to accept the wait unfortunately.

Yeah I think the ryzen sales will give a good indicator if there is a supply issue or too much demand. Not been long enough to really tell but shouldnt be long now.

Ryzen 5 will be mine just after Chrimbo. My bonus will dictate if it is a 5950X or a 5900X though but either will do nicely.

I don't doubt the 6000 series is going to sell out. Same as Nvidia did. Thats not the question or IMO the concern.

The question and concern is, how quickly can they resupply to satisfy demand? thats where Nvidia ballsed up. Their production hadn't and still hasn't ramped up in any way enough to sort the thirsty demand out and these cards have been on release for close to 2 months?

Thats the mental part which shows they were just not ready and simply wanted to get ahead of AMD.

5900X will be plenty. Use the rest towards the GPU ;)

6900XT?? Would go nicely as it will synergise with the CPU. Also how awesome of a sig would that make for you Gregter? ALL AMD!! People on here will be very confused :p

Stranger things have happened! :p

They should have delayed the sale date by 6 weeks, still wouldnt have stemmed the restock issue you mentioned. At least they wouldnt have enraged customers in a queue for that long and would have quashed the time period of people's expectations.

Those of us with 2080 Tis are in the fortunate position that we can wait. (As opposed to having to wait.) I'm going to be looking at the RX 6900 very closely but I'm not expecting to be able to purchase until 2021.
