The thread which sometimes talks about RDNA2

It is a word that starts with "snow" and ends in "flake" :D

I used it once and got a warning from a moderator. Sadly, that is the way of the world now and even at work, I am surrounded by them :D

Yea, same, they really don't like that....

The irony of censoring a word that refers to people who need to be protected from anything that offends them.

Censoring the word seems to make the case for its accuracy.

Guys, can we stick to the point of the thread instead of going off tangent please? I want information so I can bag a 6800XT (Definitely not for scalping) and pair it with my Ryzen 5900X.

Also, i wonder if the browser you are using makes a difference as to whether or not you are one of the lucky ones who got it.
Those who got a card, what browser were you mashing refresh in? I was using Chrome and it crapped out on all the relevant websites selling the card.

Nvidia use their own black box libraries for Ray Tracing, it wouldn't surprise me if some of these games don't actually work well if at all in DXR. Proper DXR that is.

The Consoles, at least the Microsoft ones are a blessing as they use that agnostic DXR API, as for the PS5, well games for that are still developed for RDNA2.

Nvidia use the DXR api the same as AMD, it's not a mysterious black box just because it performs better

Now you just seem suspicious
Lol

On a serious note, I managed to bag 2 5900X processors from the Bolton retailer on release day. This did not happen by choice. Somehow, due to the server traffic, my order went in twice.

Even though the second one was confirmed as well, I cancelled the order knowing some other person would be desperately after it.

I am a very strong believer in Karma and if i do the "right" thing, nature / World / God has a way of paying it back. I know what it feels like to be scalped and i wouldn't want to do that to anyone.

That's incorrect. AMD revised dxr 1.0 to work better with amd uarch in dxr 1.1. To better align the software for amd. Leaving 1.0 for Nvidia as they too worked with ms. IT DOESNT mean that 1.1 won't work with Nvidia.

One thing you failed to compared is that an api works best when tailored for the hardware. No matter if its AMD or Nvidia. There is no such thing as optimal code that is neutral.

If i cant bag a 6800xt Red Devil or Nitro+ SE tomorrow im tempted to sell my 3800X and x570 Taichi and just buy a 10990kf, Z490 and wait for a 3080, AMD have become a bit of a joke. Nvidia launch was bad enough, but having to wait months for a cpu and gpu is ridiculous.

I will happily go Intel / Nvidia and not look back.

so you're going from having to wait to ... having to wait?

Hahaha yes, but i think at this rate Nvidias likely to have more stock before AMD do. AMD stock everywhere for CPUs is pathetic, stores getting 20 cpus delivered with thousands of pre orders waiting, and AMD has to also churn out Playstations, Xboxs and GPUs,.

Just cant see them having any meaningful stock of anything for a good 3+ months or more.

I fully expect Nvidia to have a better stock situation by the beginning of the new year.

I sold my 5700xt, sat using a 290 ref card, while i trawl the net for another 2nd hand 5700xt lol to tide me over.

Just all round fed up with the situation, and as much as i like AMD i have zero faith in them being able to produce enough chips to feed all markets.

And im not willing to wait for them to get their act together.
