RRP for the reference is £589. If you can find it on the AMD website.

Also £220 is a huge jump. That is around a 30% markup
Hate to say it Chuk my man but seen a couple of big Youtubers talking about the fact AIB's are so royally F'off with nvidia and the tiny mark up that they are going to be recouping the cost through the AMD cards that offer better margins, and due to the shortages and artificially high market at the moment they can, will and are going to demand a premium for now.
Take OC they were £80 over msrp on stock cards at launch last week. Dont see things getting better today? I reckon we are looking £750+ for cheap cards and £900+ for the top end at least on this site?

If I'm not mistaken it was you who originally posted the video in here to highlight AMDs lower quality.......but then the conversation grew legs in the other direction.
No, it wasn't about the quality but a vid showing the performance differences in Dirt 5 and how inconsistant the bench was

Yer Greg think a lot of people saw the pictures didn't bother to watch the video and started spouting off a win for their preferred team Red/Green, you are correct the video did say he is dropping the Dirt 5 due to inconsistency.

That makes little sense. Surely they would want to be promoting their AMD cards, over their Nvidia cards if the margins are better. No need to jack up the price because ironically it may drive people to the NVidia cards instead, or cause people to sit out.
I can see Sapphire, powercooler and xfx trying to make Hay while the sun is shining, which is probably why they are getting the bulk of the stock (TBF they stayed loyal, not sure if they had a choice in it though).

Hi there

We shall be launching cards around 2pm to browse, but we won't be taking any orders online or via the phones sorry.

Reasoning is simply due to lack of stock and were unwilling to allow a crazy backorder situation to build up on a product that we see very little stock incoming on this year.

Any stock that does come in, we shall give a heads up on the forum before making available to order, but that is very unlikely to happen this week, more like next week.

So in short today all you can do is window shop.

Sorry guys but we get so much flak when you guys are waiting on your orders and when I have gone and ordered 50,000 units and might struggle to see a few hundred cards this side of Christmas, it is ourselves who get the blame and the negative reviews, but as we do not manufacturer the product it is out of our control and considering that we can literally take 1000+ orders per minute on these new GPU launches which then causes havoc we have to take measures to stop this happening.

As such the product won't be available to order from OcUK today, when we feel we have adequate stock to make product available to order we shall do so and announce that date/time only on our forum.

And you know they will happily take your money.. put you in a huge pre-order queue and you will be without a card or money.

Personally i'm going to wait and buy when there is stock available to actually ship
The bonus being by then you'll be retired and have plenty of free time to game :p

Good repost my dude, so yer as expected no cards today hahaha, but glad to see Gibbo chatting to the customer base with some real talk.

I think this is basically me out of pc gaming.
It's not worth twice price of a console. And that's just the gpu

So, are we basically looking at 2k for a pc build now? Vs 450 for a console?

We need to revisit the prices in 6-12 months. If they are still ridiculous after stock shortages aren't a problem anymore/our current world issues, then we have a problem. All my gaming buddies are console based anyway so my only choice is which console do i get next? However i do enjoy PC gaming every now and then so it would be nice to replace my 1080 for something faster, if the price is right. (Which cost me £550 at the time and is probably my max next time round)

Fair one and it is about the IQ on AMD not being as intensive as NVidia and how the results from the bench skew massively in favour of AMD. Not that I really care but felt it might be important to those who do.

above is your original quote about the video you posted before it was pointed out that the video was about the video encoder on the 6800 series not being great and the DIRT 5 benchmark not being consistent as the weather and environment, car racelines differ between runs.

https://lmgtfy.app/#gsc.tab=0&gsc.q=6900xt release date

The same kind of people who have been paying 15-30% markups for Ampere cards for the last couple of months.

Really? I got the 3080 at MSRP and I am sure many others did also, It's not Nvidias fault AMD ****** up their launch and I don't know anyone that got 6800XT and good luck getting 1 today at MSRP, Launch stock prices have come and gone so you can blame AMD for their pathetic supply in a desperate attempt to release something this year they had **** all to go around from what I am seeing and it will be the same today, Nvidia launched too early and AMD didn't have anything to launch lol.

£899 for 6800XT is madness when 6900XT costs £999 and 3080 Ti is expected around £1050.
Agree, the problem is the 6900XT will be less available than the 6800XT by some margin and the Ti will be way more than a grand by the time it's launched/scalped and the demand will be even more brutal by Q1 2021 so I think things are gonna get worse yet still both for price and availability.

What the video actually said bud was the AMD encoder was poor so they moved all encoding to a seperate PC and re ran all testing and why sometimes the video may seem choppy its not the card its the 2nd pc encoding and that image quality in both cards is almost identical.

also true. which negates his second attempt:D
I wouldn't take too much from that vid. If you actually bothered to watch it and listened to the guy, you would know what is what but if we want to do this, that juddering on the AMD side is horrendous. How anyone can play like that is beyond me.....

All good and it was my misunderstanding but it just goes to show how capture software can make a difference, as well as bench runs. As someone who has used external and internal capturing hard/software, it can make a big difference and hence people shouldn't get hung up on what they see as the end result.

Edit:

That other comment was a **** take of what others were doing.
