Ray Tracing is pretty much gimped this generation as well

watch dogs legion on consoles only uses reflections, no GI or shadows - so should run good and high quality right?

yeah no, 6700xt/Xbox Series X only doing 720p 30fps on Ray Traced reflections

It's funny cause just the other day AMD put out a presentation saying they can get great performance with 1 ray per pixel but the poor series X is doing 1 ray per 2 to 4 pixels at 30fps LMAO

https://wccftech.com/watch-dogs-legion-playstation-5-xbox-series-x/

First how much is 3070 doing in 4k without DLSS? Less than 40Fps without ray tracing enabled.
Second, i think you read/watched the wrong review. Both consoles are capped at 30FPS and are running at that speed at 4k with RT enabled all the time. They drop the resolution to 1440p when the scene is more demanding. But never to 720p. And they never drop a single frame.I say that for a card like the one in PS5, that is pretty damn impressive.

But the 3070 is doing ray tracing rendered at 4k, series x is rendering at 720p. Even if you enable 4k dlss, ray tracing on 3070 is rendered at higher inernal resolution than the series x and how much fps does it get then??

If you set the 3070 to render its ray tracing at the same resolution as the Series X you get about 60fps. Oh and don't forgot thats with the 3070 using Ultra quality ray tracing, but rendered down to Series X resolution, Series X uses the low quality Ray Tracing setting in the game's config files.

That is DLSS enabled. I told you, at 4k without DLSS the 3070 is doing less than 40fps and sometimes when the scene is crowded less than 30 fps. And that is without RT enabled.
And 3070 costs the same as the whole PS5. I say that is pretty impressive for the chip in the console.

We been here before Grim, pro users chose not to believe it. Now the 30 series is in hands of people its not a massive leap from Turing like they led us to believe. OK so the drivers and performance will probably improve some over the next year, but as we were saying its just too early to think RT in general has made it.

Looking at that legion vid... I genuinely don't see what ray tracing is meant to be adding. It's probably just a very watered down implementation?

LMAO if you thought 6800 performance is bad look at this sucker: 3070 4k Ultra RTX on, no DLSS.
I suspect that is lack of Vram right there. WTF 5 FPS? :D
It starts at 02:47.

Edit: And btw RTX off, DLSS off, is well under 30.

Real question is gonna be what the 6900XT AIB price will be...

So 6800XT MSRP was $649 US, yet AIBs in UK are £770 ish....

6900XT MSRP is $999... So AIBs in UK to be close to £1200...

Ouch. Not that you'll be able to get one anyway.

If you have to ask, you can't afford it :p

On a more serious note, did they confirm that we will see AIB 6900XT? I was only aware of reference and hadn't seen any rumours about AIB cards.

After reading some comments on this forum and online about how good overclockers/undervolters they are, I messed about with my 6800 today (reference).

Original config I got 14,702 GPU score in 3D Mark Timespy and 111fps/20205 in HZD (Ultra 1440p). My GPU temp was peaking at 68°C, with memory at 1990MHz and Core fluctuating around the 2150MHz mark. During that it seems to be pulling a peak of 220W*

Ended up with the following: Core average of 2400MHz peaking around 2550MHz for about 10% of benchmarking. That's with the slider all the way to the max. Can't go over that. Memory I only managed 2050MHz (reporting 2040MHz average). Anything above that the benchmark would get an error whilst running, so not stable. 3D Mark Timespy GPU score went to 16,483 and HZD got an average of 120fps (need to turn off vsync and re-run) and score of 21,754, a nearly 8% increase in HZD and 12% in 3D Mark (suspect once I remove vsync it will go nearer 12% for HZD as well.

All that whilst undervolting to 900mV, although increased the power limit to 15% (max) and that seems to be drawing a peak of 255W*. Temperature peak of 69°C with fan speeds +100rpm of where they were (circa 40%).

Extremely happy with around what seems a 10% increase in performance, whilst being so silent and cool.

Yes, I saw some skus for AIBs. However, not sure when they will launch. As nothing has been announced yet.

BTW MLID really burned NAAF for calling AIBs a paper launch. NAAF had to back track and admit that aibs were launched he just wasn't able to get on in his region.
17:20-19:50
20:00-22:00 MLID retorts by reminding NAAF that Nvidia actually had a paper launch and had zero stock on launch day. NAAF agreed!
22:15 Nvidia's earnings call suggests that Nvidia sent well over 1/2 their GA102 dies to miners.
23:50 NAAF finally admits to stock being in the USA but not were he is. What a drama queen!!!
24:00 MLID asked NAAF if he had access to the AMD.com numbers? NAAF said yes but didn't want to talk about it. MLID said he will talk about it and they are replenished stock. NAAF refused to admit it even though he agreed with MLID. What a joke. This NAAF is a flipflopper!!!

After this back and forth I unsub'd NAAF for his FUD.

MLID is an idiot, i tipped him a question in one of his videos and he ignored it completely. Yes it was the cheapest way to tip, but regardless he didn't answer it.

I'm not going to watch his stuff on principle, he is often full of himself anyway.

I watched that too and I think both were guilty of semantics.

Was it a paper launch. I don't know, but hardly any of us could get a 30 series card on launch day and all the websites crashed, and hardly any of us could get a 6000 series card on launch day and all the websites crashed. It was weeks before any significant numbers got any 30 series AIBs and for the 6000 series there were no AIBs available either.

Was it a launch yesterday? Maybe AMD might say it wasn't but it as good as was. The reviews went live, the listings went live, the NDAs were lifted. So it was.

And MLID was saying cards were available in US but NAAFs own sources and website browsing said there wasn't. So NAAF is right, there was no generally available stock in US either.

You paid someone to answer a question? LOL

I have to admit MLID has been more right then wrong.
He said Nvidia would pull the stunts they did with bait switching
He said AMD supply will be low
He said 6800xt would be competitive
NAAF admitted that MLID was right that it wasn't a paper launch. He simply can't get pass his own emo to see the logistics of it.
So again just because you wasn't able to get one doesn't mean it's a paper launch. There is a lot MLID got right. But, I wouldn't superchat him. :p

Neither of these guys are your friends. And I agree it was an AIB launch. We just have to wait until they get more cards in stock. Hopefully by then the price goes back down.
