The time came

This ^

It isn't mint though. Not being harsh it does look good from the photos but it is still high mileage car, that's what I'm trying to get through.

You have done work on rope example, that doesn't mean everything else not worked on using mint condition. There are plenty of other bits that will need to be looked at if you want it to be truly anywhere near mint. How about the suspension bushes, how is the alignment, it has different tyres on not single type on all 4. Just a few examples there.

Alignment is spot on now, wishbones have been done recently thus bushes are fine, ARB bushes are tight, all tyres are PE2s (OEM spec'd tyres).

If you are being fussy, the rear arm bushes could do with replacing, but they are by no means dead.

Had a go myself? It was done, it works, that is all there is to it. I find it funny that there is no mention of those posts that told me that it could not be DIYed :)

As for the detailing thing, I love how you enjoy making things sound far worse than they actually are. What arrangements I have with my friends when doing their cars is our concern, not yours :)

Jon, I recall what I said perfectly (It's not like I can go back and read the post or anything ). I think you need to figure out plurality.

You've found one example where you do not have (and will never have) the full picture.

Only 5,739 missing examples then?

It does have PE2s all round, I was looking for a weekend toy I just never imagined how **** the Clio would be off the boil and that last comment was obviously sarcastic in response to Fox's whining about applying morals to my dealings with the warranty company.

Next?

I still fail to see the issue there, it's not like I had anything to gain by lying, it was just easier than saying "Yeah well it has 3 PE2s, and a brand new budget put on by the dealer, I've already sourced a replacement so this information is pretty irrelevant anyway".

Ok, you can have that one, that is two - there are now 5,741 "lies" unaccounted for including this post.

Yet again, it's been blown out of proportion. If there is anyone here that has never told a small porky on an internet forum such as something like one odd tyre, I'll eat a hat for each one.

Perhaps it's just me, but a lie that just makes something easier to say than explaining it isn't really a big deal, is it? Especially where it offers me no gain and harms no one else. At the end of the days, the "Motors crew" will continue on in it's witch hunt fashion and will continue to to play/interpret stuff to suit them.

If I saw any issue with it, I simply wouldn't have posted up the picture showing two odd tyres

Anyway what about "it broke on the way home" then "I got the car cheaper due to the pulley" - surely one of those is a lie too? Or is that OK because it's a lie on an internet forum?

You just don't do yourself any favours Mike, no one believes a word you say anymore. You probably don't care, and I must admit I enjoy the lulz of your posts. :)

and that last comment was obviously sarcastic in response to Fox's whining about applying morals to my dealings with the warranty company.

'I am buying a house, the mortgage broker reckons we'll have the keys within 2 weeks'

(MikeH, May 2010)

What did that make easier to say Mike?

The end result was not as it was expected to be, beyond that I choose to keep things private for my own perfectly valid reasons.

This is why it gets murky isnt it Mike?

Why would the dealer subsequently give you £100 towards the cost of the pulley when you bought it cheap because of that pulley?

They did not inform me of the Pulley issue, I weighed up whether it was worth it on the basis of me covering the entire cost, and then acted dumb later on.

It strikes me, given previous history and the fact it's almost certain that someone will notice small holes in your postings, that it would probably actually be easier to just be truthful and transparent and say things like 'it has 3 PE2s and i've a 4th ready to fit' rather than lie to save typing about 5 words and then have a huge debate about it later when people ask why you lied about it.

If there really are simple explanations behind everything, that you end up revealing anyway in an attempt to redeem yourself, why not just post truthfully in the first place?

Yes, in hindsight it would have been easier.

You have to remember though that Fox and co. are holding on to two examples out of the 7 years I've been a member of these forums.

I have removed good tyres from cars because I simply did not get on with them, I have sold tyres separately because I've bought wheels of a different size and sold the old ones, there will be people who will only replace two on an axle at a time, so when they get a puncture, they end up with one surplus.

There are frankly loads of possible explanations for part-worn tyres - you obviously need to take care in where they come from and to check their condition before fitting.

Oh a 600 yard dual carriageway, to well over 100mph :D

But the M3 had a failing head gasket didnt it?

You mean that Dual carriage way where you told us 100MPH couldn't be done whilst stopping for the end, yet I showed you video proof of 100-0 being done in around half?

To be fair he's trying to sell a 'mint' Clio to somebody for £1k over what its worth. We dont need to make him look anything.

I don't see the big concern with the figure I advertise the car for, I've stated many times that I'm in no rush and I'm just dipping my toes, yet you continue to bring this price thing up.

This is the thing, you're like a dog with a bone, except you feel the need to take it way over the top, twist the truth by mis-quoting and quoting out of context and then moan or get defensive every time someone takes a difference stance to you or disappear without comment when you're made to look like an idiot, waiting to find someone else's back you can ride back into the argument on.

I wonder if your constant digs around me having friends for all situations stems from you having none? Were you bullied at school, is that why you feel the need to come across as such a see you next Tuesday on internet forums?

Good luck with that, I stopped posting in Motors for these very reasons - it was fun for about two pages, but it's just become tedious now.

Yes, and as I tell you every time, belonging to a local motoring forum, competing at a fairly large, regular local Autotest event and living in a small place in general creates lots of friends, usually involved in motoring in some way as two of the above are centred around it.

It's not rocket science - It's amazing how dumb you can act when it works in your favour for an argument.
