The Touchpad Android thread

I know, I think I have encountered fewer bugs or glitches in this than webOS lol. Just connected to my work enterprise network which I could not do with CM7. Only thing I really need webOS for now is the camera for Skype and video playback.

There was a small update last night

Alpha0.5 Release notes:

This is a minor release that bundles fixes that were previously a separate download and a few other things:
Fix kernel crash that happened most frequently with Titanium Backup but also many other apps(fix found by verygreen)
Touchscreen fixes by Dees_Troy(helps with rapid distinct touches being interporated as a single motion)
Fix graphics corruption that was happening in some games
CMStats added
Browser: open link in incognito mode
Change needed for fsck replacement(was in alpha0 but wanted to make it explicit here until it is merged)
Other general changes that were merged since alpha0

Do you flash the 0.5 over 0 by Clockwork mod? or by using ACME again?

i think ACME is advised, but tbh i see no problem with clockwork mod, i have all the ACME stuff already on my pc, i've left it on there because i knew it would be advised to use for all upgrades so i used that.

up to you really.

is there any way to check that your upgrade has worked?

I'm not sure if there's a way to check if it's worked, maybe in the "about" section of the software settings menu?

I am nervous to apply the 0.5 patch since I've read people having problems with the touchscreen since applying. Also surely your settings and apps would have to be reapplied after doing the upgrade?

I know

As I said, I cannot get it working with cm9. Does it work for you?

No :( "no controller found please connect it via USB cable"

I am generally enjoying this port, it does feel like I have a new tablet, but for me, lots doesn't work still.

- PS3 SixAxis support
- Words with Friends (intermittent)
- Nesoid

Are three major ones for me.

ACME is only meant to be used for initially installing android (although they do say it's technically ok to use to flash any zip). Once you have Android on your touchpad you should be using CWM.

they told us to install alpha 0 ICS using ACMEInstaller2 even if you already had CWM and CM7 alpha 3.5 on your touchpad, because you got to keep all your settings, apps and data, etc. whereas with CWM you needed to delete data to prevent issues, maybe the reason why a lot of people have had issues with ICS and other's haven't because they installed it the way they were told to.

I want to install Alpha 0.5. I have CM7 Alpha 3.5 on there already. What is the easiest way to install ICS on it. Just need some quick pointers on best way to do this via CWM. I also want to wipe my existing data, if possible.

K guys, I installed the R0 version and the charging fix but it doesn't charge via USB. Has it been fixed in the 0.5? I am happy to do the ACME route again if it is the best way. I take it I just copy the file into the CMInstall folder again then copy the acmeinstaller2 into palm folder in windows and run the cmd line "novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2" again yeah?

EDIT: Does seem to be charging as it happens.

Replace android with ics.

OK after a day of messing about after I bricked my touch pad trying to factory resetting it and webos doctor not working I finally have ICS working with market place.
I love ICS I can't believe this isn't even beta it runs smooth as silk
