Ya I am glad I went with the FTW3. It will have 373w power limit from factory.
There's a few posts on their forums that say the cards are hot, loud, and the fans are not that great.

Thats Vega 64 sort of power consumption guess 800w+ psu neededO_o
I take it you built the nuclear power plant ready to power that thing then.
Hey everyone. I have updated my Gigabyte 2080 ti OC to the latest bios with increased power limit (from 111% to 122%). I am using the same overclock as previously (+150Mhz core +500Mhz memory) My maximum temperatures under load have now gone from 75c to 85c and fan speed has gone from 75% to 95% which is really loud. I feel like this cooler is not able to handle the power of this chip. I had an Asus strix 1080ti OC with a similar sort of overclock which was completely silent and never went over 70c. I have a large case with good airflow. I am not happy with how this card is performing. Same as another guy who has the same card on this forum. Thought I would see what you guys think about the issue. Should I live with it or try and return it and get a different brand when available? Cheers
That is pretty hot as I think they max at 88c. My guess is just reduce the power limit if your wanting it to be cooler. No point in running it at 122% at 85c for a few extra MHz unless it’s downclocking a fair bit at 111%.
My FE with 380w power bios maxed out at 88c with 100% fan speed. Now under water, 2115mhz and 40-42c maximum.
It’s down to you if you find it too hot and loud then upgrade to a thicker triple slot, triple fan cooler like the FTW3 or Msi gaming/duke. But with it being an air cooled card and a chip the size of the Ti, they still get hot.

I'm that guy - and that is what I saw too. Pretty much exactly the same. My Gaming OC is going back as soon as I get my XC Ultra. The retailer has my delivery estimate as tomorrow. They usually come through, they did for my Gaming OC, but it's not dispatched yet for delivery tomorrow so I have a small suspicion I won't be getting it tomorrow.
The place I got mine from is fairly rubbish for returning things. What reason did you give to return yours?
For me, the level of coil whine I was getting is a fault. That is the main reason I am returning and the reason I would have given. It's like screetchingly loud in certain scenarios. All I said was that it was faulty and they said sorry processed a returns and gave me £10 promotional credit to use on their site (which was a complete surprise to me as I wasn't even looking for any). Didn't even get as far as saying what the fault was, they did not ask me.
One of the reasons i have my pc under the desk. Both 1080Ti and 2080Ti whine/buzz wise can be loud especially at 165hz. One of the reasons i have the rear of my card foam stripped and the case sealed pretty well to keep noise to a minimum.
Mines right next to my ear pretty much as can be seen in the image below. And much more noticeable since I installed the x62 kraken for my CPU this weekend, coming from an air cooler. Have set it to be the highest overclock I can manage while keeping it dead silent on load - now getting 4.7GHz out of my i7 7820x with decent temps and no real audible fan speed. Really makes me notice the horrible coil whine my card has sadly.
whats the max fan speed and temps you are getting now?I was looking at fan activity on my FE, it went rarely went over 58, had to use a Precision X1 to stop the card sitting on 87c in-game.
Fans 65-70, Temps in the 70's during play.whats the max fan speed and temps you are getting now?
Thanks for the info. I have found anything over 80% fan speed is too loud for me. I might just make a fan curve with 80 my top speed and to hell with the temps! I can't deal with that noise. I am guessing thats probably enough to stop it melting!Fans 65-70, Temps in the 70's during play.
