The µ43 thread - welcome to the really dark side

You can use the screen as a touchpad to move the focal point when you're eye is to the EVF and the screen is off. You can turn it off though.

Cool, was finding it really annoying if I'm honest, will take a look at the menus tomorrow and see, considering ordering one of these through my voucher scheme as its a steal.

Snagged an E-M5 mkII from eBay, absolutely cannot wait for it to arrive!

Was gonna get a Pentax K-S2 as I was after a weatherproof upgrade to my RX100 m2, but I spotted a bargain EM5-2 and couldn't help myself :p

Just picked up a G7 with kit lens.

Any recommendations on a spare battery and case for it?

I just purchased a second genuine battery as I've 3rd party battery issues in the past.

Lowepro Rezo TLZ 10 fits G7 with these lenses:

Sigma 30mm f2.8 - hood fitted

15mm PL f1.7 - hood fitted

35-100mm f4-5.6 - hood fitted

14-42mm - hood stowed

45-150mm hood stowed - Longest lens that fits nicely

I wish the 12-40mm pro lens came with a bigger hood, its rubbish if its starting to rain as the lenshood/glare protector does nothing for stopping droplets getting onto the lens!

New Oly macro lens, 1st shots.

This is using the E-M1 and the Oly 60mm f2.8 macro.I used the in camera focus stacking.

So is the GX80 king atm? Picking up a gift for my GF's birthday prior to our holiday in August. It's a little over what i'd budgeted (400 - 450) but if it's truly worth it then i'll stretch.

Ive heard the Lumix lenses are good and prolific, is that the case?

The m43 system continues to impress me. I've been using the 17mm f/1.8 a lot and in most cases almost exclusively! My 12-40mm hasn't been on the camera in months!

The macro shot above are really something, great stuff :) - Since seeing the prime capabilities I'm certain that unless you're really really pixel peeking or have an extremely jaded view there is no way anyone would think it wasn't shot on a DSLR.

Currently eyeing up a 45mm prime at the moment, missing having a long reach prime, that or the other end of the scale and get the 12mm.

Although before all of that I want a proper remote shutter & battery grip for some night star trail work.

Any recommendations for a remote shutter and grip?

Why not just use your mobile app? Worked great for me on a night shoot a few weeks ago?

I got the HLD-6 Battery Grip for mine. Its a two part grip so you can just use the grip or both bits and have an extra battery.

I find the mobile app a bit unreliable. Plus I want to set the camera up and leave it taking 5 second shots until the battery dies and walk away whilst it does it. Can the mobile app do that?

Does she definitely want interchangeable lenses because some of the 1" sensor compacts will rival the m4/3 sensor in terms of IQ whilst being much more compact.

She wants to have more control without having the bulk of an SLR. She'll be fine with the interchangeable lenses. I don't think size is an issue really as long as it'll fit in a handbag or small pouch :)
