The Unofficial Fallout 3 Thread

Got my copy waiting at home, arrived yest but didn't have time to play it.

Loved Oblivion so really looking forward to getting into this over the weekend!
 
Picked up my copy today from the big purple 4 letter word place, I feel cheated. I pre-ordered the Collectors Edition with the lunchbox, instead I got the one with the metal figurine. However, after much thought... I quite like this metal one.

Now to crack on with the gaming after my interview.
 
Man this game is hard, when I get a quest to go into the wasteland I usually end up getting killed by the creatures roaming around - so annoying :(

Does anyone know how to put your weapon away without unequipping it like on oblivion? I cant work it out :(
 
Awesome so far, just got into Megaton, im quite surprised the 360 an handle the viewdistance.

Considering i hated oblivion im really pleased with this, really like the CE too, got the Soundtrack CD and a keyring also.

Thanks :) So you aren't using weapons at all then? :p

Can anyone give me any tactics? When coming up against enemies I struggle to survive most of the time, I only have a pistol and baseball bat at the moment - and yes I use the Vats :)

I just alternate between using first person view and the VAT system and mainly aiming for the head's. Make sure you repair your weapon's also because they will do more damage if they have more Health (use other weapons usually the same type to repair the one you want). The repair functionality is in the Pit-boy.

Check that you're using an appropriate weapon for your character. Even in first person, your accuracy is effected by skill. You may be the most uber1337 shot in FPS, but it wont make a difference if you've got low skill.

If your running low on health, just use some of your supplies. You can do it mid combat.

Buff up when you need to. Upping your stats can mean the difference between winning and loosing. Also make sure you're using the best equipment you can.

Keep your distance from close combat foes when you can.

If your really struggling, perhaps re-rolling your character and picking more appropriate skills and SPECIAL for your style might be of benefit.

Thanks I'll give those tips a try later, I haven't been repairing anything which is silly of me so I would imagine that will help - I just want to level up!

I seem to remember Oblivion being this difficult when you would first start playing so I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.
 
I like the fact that you can go nuts and the game doesn't just end :p

I managed to kill every single person (bar the kids, it doesn't let you kill the kids) in Megaton
 
Bought the CE on PS3 today.

Came with DVD, artwork, soundtrack and cool bobblehead figure although I would rather it was a bobblehead of the dude on the cover rather than the Vault-tec guy.

From my brief experience so far, just outside the vault and in megaton, it's extremely good! A solid 30 frames and the draw distance is excellent. They have done a really good job on it!

Aye the Draw distance is phenominal for th 360, you can see things from mile's around. It's the first 360 game in a while that has me addicted from the start, was really hesitant about getting this after the travesty that was oblivion but it's a fantastic game!
 
Anyone else's game keep freezing? It's completely frozen on me three times now (just over two hours in) and the last one corrupt my save game - so I have to start again - joy.

The last game that was this bad (for me) was... gasp... Oblivion!!

Can't be much bothered to be honest, was struggling to get into it, then just as I was beginning to, it freezes and I lose all my progress. Think I'm going to send it back, can't be bothered playing a game that constantly freezes and threatens me with losing all my progress :(
