***The Vapers Lounge*** 3.0

I have found the Smok coils to be really hit and miss even with proper treatment and within the same pack! - have soaked them overnight and still had burning! I have been using my V8 Baby primarily with Q2 0.4ohm coils for about 2 months now and sometimes a coil is excellent and sometimes you put one in and you just get a burnt flavour.. not as bad as when a coil goes but noticeable in the vape.

I swapped onto the Smok tank as my Cleito Aspire's glass cracked but I got a couple of replacements today and moved back to that and the difference is noticeable.. get a really good Smok coil and its a better vape but the cleito is much more consistent in my book. The Cletio in my book also lets you use a wider range of juice I have found the Smok coils more likely to burn juice even on lowest recommended wattage.

In terms of juice if your like the Swamp Thang (one of my favourites also!) then I would also recommend you try some of the following:

- All the ruthless juices are good but I also really like Grape Drink and Rise.
- Furiosa Ice Beam is a great fruity vape with a menthol hit at the end
- VML - Mojito Lemonade especially

V8 stick isn't loosing the charge, it just isn't sucking up a thick juice through an Nautilus mini, it was pretty cheap so I'll probably just chuck the bbb as I was mainly getting the pen for holiday.

Yes, I've learned the hard way by burning out quite a few packets of Aspire coils and know how to juice them up well prior to using a new coil.

Iv'e tried grape dank, it's ok, but Rise and ez duz it both didn't do it for me but surprisingly better I thought when I mixed them together, jungle fever is good but Swamp Thang is my favorite Ruthless juice by far love it, I'll keep an eye open for the lemonade one too.

I'll suck up the hit on the coils too as cba arguing via mail for some coils.

Thanks for the help/pointers guys.:)

Tommy have you considered an RTA? You could save a heap on coil heads and be able to customise the vape as you like, you'd get a lot more options for mouth to lung tanks too.

I wasn't aware RTA's could MTL but don't know much anyway, as running the Spiral@25w feels as if I'm hitting a limit on what my lungs are going to accept(presuming they've taken an absolute beating over the years), do they vape hot requiring high wattage?

What rta's would you recommend and will any work on a Coolfire IV max 40w or do I need another box too?

The Spiral came with an RBA and tried it with cotton from a Vaporised store but couldn't get anything out of it, either the cotton or/and my skills are crap but got a bag of cotton bacon v2 sitting and i'll give it a try and see how I get on with that.

Tried rebuilding a few of my coils already but using that cotton and probably doing something else wrong, they have been fails, but realise it's going to take a fair few shots to get anything working anyway.

Thanks pgtips.:)

serpent mini is pretty good in your size range.

higher watt setups aren't necessarily hotter, although i did think the same before i got into dripping.

building is a bit of a learning curve, but it's worth persisting. a few suggestions:
1. get a coil master kit, really makes a massive difference and is worth the investment
2. go for spaced coils (ie a gap between the wires), in my experience these last longer and if done right don't have any hotspots
3. cotton is tricky, but you want to go for light friction (enough to hold the cotton on its own) but ensuring full contact
4. practice makes perfect, more you do it the better you'll get.

other thing to bear in mind with coils dying quickly is the juice your using, "premium" flavours with lots of sweetener taste real good but they'll caramelise and gunk up your coils real fast, i've had juices that can kill a coil in half a day when other juices can keep the same coil alive for over a month.

As you already have the smok spirals tank Tommy, I'd start with the RBA section for that and build something like an 8 wrap 2.5mm coil using 26awg kanthal, that should come out around 1.0 ohms and need 15-25w to run. As mentioned, build spaced coils, especially for a first time as you remove most of the difficulty in getting rid of hot spots. there should be videos on the tube on building/wicking for the spirals RBA, other then that pick up a kayfun v3 mini clone, slightly different build deck to the spirals RBA but should offer more restrictive airflow.

A 40w mod should be more then enough for just about any mouth to lung build, as at the most you'd be firing ~25w.

Recommended supplies:

26 & 28 AWG Kanthal (give you a bit of choice)
Cotton pads
Ceramic Tweezers
Coil jig (can highly recommend the coil master V4 kit, iirc I got mine for a tenner from amazon!)
Some small wire snips.

Oh little tip for makin spaced coils, wind the coils tight, then, with the coil still on the jig post, grab the first and last wraps, just get your finger nails under them and gently pull apart until gaps appear, then push the whole coil back down and it should end up pretty well spaced :)

After a month with the Kylin RTA, I've had to give up on it :(

It's by far one of the best flavour tanks I've ever used, but that condensation/leaking issue can be a real issue at times.

I've tried every method I could think and find in an attempt to stop it, but alas...

Replaced it with an OBS Engine. Belter of a tank! Doesn't kick the flavour as hard but man am I content with it!

Good choice. I'm a big fan of the Engine and the Engine Nano. The Nano is my ADV at the moment. Flavour isn't the very best but it's good enough and it absolutely does not leak.

I have a Smok Sprial tank and a 3ml TFV8 Baby beast and love them both! Have to agree that the Baby coils are hit and miss but the 0.15 X4 is fantastic. Going to get more of them for sure. The Sprial tank never has a coil issue on either the 0.6 or 0.3 and is a cracking little tank for tight lung hits.

Juice question time.... I have a load of Zap juices that whilst I like them I feel they need a cooling note to them. Could I get away with dropping in a cooling / menthol concentrate to each bottle as I open them. Maybe 2 drops or 1? Would this ruin the liquid or kill the flavours?

I have 1 of the early Kylin's & yes it is a pain with the condensation/leaking but i also have 1 off the new coloured 1's
& this is night & day better. Also i don't get the problem were i could really struggle @ times to get the top off to fill.

Update on the big baby, swapped the coil with the other one in the box and no leaking, can't believe the oil was running clean through the coil even though I tried to muck about with the coil legs to create a better seal.

Thanks again, so helpful, and gave me loads of tips, Coil master v3 should be here on monday and will go with the ever growing collection of stuff and will give it a go again.

Hopefully can crack the cooling bit, then turn my attention to making juices next to drop the cost.

Best thing i ever did was stop mtl and go full lung hit, opened up a new world in taste, satisfaction and reliable hardware and low running costs, ie RTA and RDA tanks.
