Guys, a couple of questions

1) I've been using a TFV8 baby recently (single coil) and find that whenever I use a "sweet" liquid (charlies chalk dust rhino, for example), the coil doesn't last long, maybe a couple of days. This is at 48W. Is this normal?

2) I like Charlies Chalk Dust Rhino and Jelly Bean, but they are pretty expensive (I used to make my own liquid but gave up). Can anyone recommend other similar liquids that are a bit cheaper?

The sweetener in those types of juice tend to kill coils quite quickly but if you're looking for a juice that will make your coils last a bit longer I would suggest fruity liquids.

I've been using the Wasp Nano for the last 24 hours or so, and I love it. The flavour is great. It is easy to coil and I can quickly re-wick it to change flavours if I want to. I'll still use my HorizonTech Falcon tank if I go out as an RDA is a bit of a pain when it comes to re-dripping all of the time, but I can't believe I've had the Wasp Nano in my drawer for so long and never used it. Now I'm thinking I might get a newer and better RDA as I'm enjoying it so much. The Dead Rabbit and the Digiflavor Drop are two RDAs which have I understand are great.

I could even get into squonking with these things. It is all starting to make sense now. :)

Just as I said everything was going well, I seem to have broken my Wasp Nano somehow. I was re-wicking it to change flavours and typically when I do that I dry burn the coil a bit to burn off any residue from the old liquid. I guess I must have dry burned it too long because one small part of the coil seemed to have a little flame. I assumed I had just burnt out the coil and tried putting a new coil on but every time I try and fire the Wasp Nano now, my mod says "Check Atomizer" on the screen.

Have I broken my Wasp Nano? It would be a shame if I did but I can always get a new one. I don't want to waste my money if there is any way to fix it. In the meantime, I'll give it a good clean under the tap to make sure there isn't anything causing any issues from lack of cleaning.

take the bottom pin out and check the insulator might of melted

I've had a good look at it, and I don't think anything has melted. I gave it a damn good clean in hot water, and it seems OK. Maybe the coil just shorted on the side?

I'll try and make a simple coil so I'm not wasting premium coils and see if I can get it going again. I've never made a coil before, so this could be fun.

Edit: Made my own Clapton coil and tested it in my Ohm reader and it worked fine. Dry burned it to bed the coil in, and now it should be ready to vape. Guess I shorted out two coils in a row which is bad luck.

Sorry to keep posting in this thread but is there any advantage to using 3.5mm diameter coils? I bought a tank today which came with 2.5mm coils, and it was a right pain in the arse to wick because the cotton had to be so thin. Ages ago when I first started vaping, I bought some pre-made wire for coils (all sorts of wire like Clapton and Juggernaut) but never really got into the whole RTA / RDA scene until now.

I'm just thinking if I make some 3.5mm diameter coils it'll make wicking my tanks so much easier. Is there any downside to using such big coils though?

The only things to consider is that it'll change the resistance having a larger diameter. Aslong as you can fit the bigger coil the RTA then it's fine. Air flow might be a little more restrictive but depends on tank and preference.

Thanks for that. I'll make some 3.5mm coils then with Clapton wire and see how it goes. The tank is the Wotofo Bravo which seems like a decent tank, especially with the bubble glass installed.

But I'm still getting to grips with the whole coiling and wicking stuff. The Wasp Nano was a revelation to me. The flavour was so good. This tank seems good as well and making my coils will be so much cheaper.

Can anyone recommend reliable mods, tried several wismec rx200, rx300, a lost vape dna250 to see if a "quality" mod would last longer, now on smok alien and al85, everything i try seems to break or develop faults within a few weeks or at best a few months, screens broken, 510 broken / shorted, battery / board connections broken etc

Could this be due to high usage? tend to get through several battery changes and maybe 50ml a day in juice

Are there any decent mods available that will last?

I've found DNA based mods very reliable personally. Admittedly I had to replace the screen and I gave it a revamp with a new 510 and 3D just before Christmas but my DIY Dual 18650 DNA200 will be on for 3 years of service in September

Smoant Charon or battle star. My Battlestar has been through literal hell, dropped, crushed, fully submerged in water...still going strong, very easy to maintain too, 4 screws the whole thing comes apart should you need to, pretty cheap too!

Got a digiflavour drop bf on it's way to me, looks....interesting.

Thx for the reply

I have no doubt the DNA board is the best and when working was my best mod ever, was a therion 166, i just kept getting low voltage battery errors which afaik meant the soldering kept breaking or wire coming loose between the battery terminals and the DNA board, even sent it to Evolve to repair and it only lasted a few weeks after that and same fault

What's a good rebuildable/rewickable tank these days, most search results I've found are all pre TPD ruling so not relevant as nowhere sells them

Still find it silly I can buy 100ml of juice in 10 x 10ml bottles which creates more plastic waste than a single 100ml bottle to then put it into a spare 100ml bottle I kept from before the silly ruling, yet it's perfectly fine to buy a litre of bleach from the supermarket... just what danger is there in a 100ml bottle of juice that there isn't from a litre of bleach ?

You can still buy non-compliant tanks etc... from China without issue, even the ones that do comply in the UK can get tank extensions sold/bundled in, basically TDP has made things a little more inconvenient but thats all.

Current RTA's in my rotation are the Boreas V2 and Aromamizer Supreme V2. Both similar in construction to be fair, both very good, easy to use tanks.

Cheers just ordered a Supreme after checking some reviews out

Ermmm you can buy 60ml to 100ml shortfill bottles, you just need to add nicotine to it that’s all.

If I remember correctly a few of you on here regularly bought from Jackamoo Juice, have any of you tried the new "Just Like Grandma's" range?

I need something to get my motivation back, as I just daily vape the same juice on the same setup with a wick that needs changing for weeks/months on end.
