Do you mean, stick the liquid in a jar or something (not in one of the plastic containers)?

Yeah, that could have been clearer! If you have a glass bottle lying around decant your liquid into it and close it up. I'm usually lazy and don't bother (just mix the flavour a bit heavy and vape it all quickly!), but it only takes 5 mins so worth doing.

Gilbert, I try to keep one side of the wick in liquid when vaping with the nova and keep my device roughly horizontal to aid the wicking. Not sure why, but new heads seem to have a weird plasticky flavour that goes after a tank or two. Are you allowing a bit of time for the liquid to soak up the wick?

I used to have serious wicking problems with my 100%VG mixes, but my PG heavy liquids are all fine with them. The wicks seem to get better with use, no idea why, but there may be a way to accelerate that process.

Yes I allow them to soak up and im forever twisting around, vaping on one which slightly tastes of burnt is harmless or?

Will any of this burning go away as its not major in 1 or 2 of them but its about 50:50 between the flavour of the juice. Maybe im allowing the liquid to run to low before filling up again? Grrr! Costing me a bomb in Cartoz!

2 nights out Thursday and Sunday, still managed to keep off the fags which is a real test for me when filled with alcohol!

Well done mate. I know this is a pain when you're trying to find your definitive setup. Like you, I had the same problems with some of my liquids, but they've only been resolved by mixing some different juices up. It might be that your prefered liquids are a bit thicker than others, it might just be the wicks need to bed in. Sorry I can't help more here.

The burnt flavour can be fixed though. The video I posted a while back on rebuilding the nova has a short section on maintenance. You can pipette the juice out (or bin it to avoid collecting burnt flavour), rinse the whole thing out, dry it thoroughly, and then pulse the coil until it glows red to burn off the burnt liquid. Then refill and go at it again.

Thanks, Yeah its frustrating as when they are working correctly and not burning I love them. The liquid is a standard PG from Liberty Flights really thin so can't be down to wicking surely, Will have to re wick later on using the video you kindly shared.

Devrij, I've started mixing my own but am really not getting on with it at all.
I'm following the mixing table on TW but all of the fluids I've made so far vape with a really chemically taste and really catch my throat.

Here's an example of something I made up just now:

1.00ml - 54mg Platimum Ice
1.25ml - Propylene Glycol
1.25ml - Aqueous Glycerine
1.75ml - Columbia Coffee flavour

Tried the same with blackcurrant flavour and it's the same. A slight hint of the flavour but an overwhelming chemical taste that gets my throat.

Have you tried steeping?

What are you using to measure what you're making? If you're using the drip count method then it's bullsh*t, the size of the drip is different for everything. I use a measuring cylinder and just go by that. I found everything just worked. 10ml is perfect for me as I don't mind making up a mix every week but if you just want to chuck it straight in a bottle then a syringe sounds the best thing for you.

My mixes were crap for ages and then I got a measuring cylinder and everything is great.

You're using a lot of flavour at 30%. I tend to use 10%. I have a batch of the same liquid that I made using the following:

1.8ml 54mg nic (PG)
0.8ml flavouring
3ml PG
2.4ml VG

to give 12mg liquid. I know they're weird numbers (obviously just multiply to make more), but I have always used this weird table that came with my first ever bottle of nic base :p

I would try the steeping method I described earlier, because when you first mix everything together it never mixes properly straight away.

I use a 3ml pipette for the nic and base, and a syringe for the flavouring. It makes life a lot easier when you can replicate things. The dropper on the plat ice bottle is pretty vague with only 1 and 2ml markings. I'm considering getting some large cylindfers for mixing up lots of nic base so I can just add flavouring. That sounds really handy!

Just picked up some wick and wire to try this rewicking business out.

I'm using a glass dropper that has ml markings on it.
As devrij has said that's a lot of flavour (I could have worked it out before but my mind's elsewhere) you want to stick between 10 and 20%. It may take a few mixes to find your preferred amount depending on what flavour you're using but you will get there.

Have you tried a mixing calculator? I use recipe organizer as you can lock how much of each liquid you want. I.e - nicotine or flavour level, and then you can save that mix if you like it and then just open the recipe and choose how much of that mix you would like to make and it tells you how much of each part you will need in ml, drops or whatever.

If you want to make it yourself Devrij I've heard it is just the custard from Capella with 2% (of 10%ish in PG) of ethyl maltol. I can't say if that is true or not but lots of people have been working on it. I'm not a real believer in steeping but have heard that this (and the pre made) need a good week to be even vapable.

steeping makes a massive difference mate. You don't want to vape on freshly made juice as it will taste vile.

I've must have vaped a litre of vile juice then. Been mixing juice for about 3 years and have found most juice doesn't need steeping. Some do taste better steeped and some worse.

I've mixed Cappella

Blueberry
Popcorn
Lemon Meraunge (sp)
Chocolate Fudge

2ml Flavoring to 10ml VG

All taste much richer after steeping. Out of those I mixed Blueberry was the best, I won't buy the others again though lol

The main point of the post wasn't about me not thinking that most juice doesn't need steeping but that the general consensus is Cappella (and grants) custard does. The main reason I gave the suggestion to mix your own in this case wasn't because of cost but that because it is such a small operation they tend to not have any for sale a lot of the time.

I believe Grant does mix to a very high and almost artisan standard and that buying from him is great. I'm all for helping the little guys.

Right after a lot of faffing about and waiting for the Easter weekend to finish, i finally ordered my starter kit.
I went for the EGO-T CE5 BLACK STARTER KIT 900mah, its a pair, and at £24.99 + postage i think its a pretty good deal.

Now i know its a personal thing, what are your best flavours? from my research, 1 menthol from 1 site can taste completely different to a menthol from a different site.

So if anyone doesnt mind, would you list a few of your favourite flavours and the site you buy them off.

With menthol you get 3 types imo The first is just menthol (you can make this easy and cheaply), the second is minty menthols and the third is menthol tobacco. There is also -ice / breeze which can be anything with menthol or one of the other cooling chemicals.

I mix all my own juice just about. I'd suggest raspberry from just about anywhere They all use the same flavouring pretty much as it is cheap and tastes just right at least the the 3 or 4 I've bought all taste like the flavouring I buy.

I've not tried this myself (too cheap to buy pre made) but Cigarrillos Naturales gets a lot of good reviews

Grants Vanilla custard is really doing a storm on the vaping forums. They are a small company (might just be 1 or 2 people) and aren't selling any atm It can be like that a lot.

Sorry for not suggesting an juices I've tried pre made but all the ones I used to like before I started only vaping my own mixes aren't about any more or I hated the taste of after stopping smoking for a while.

Cigarillos naturales is the best tobacco juice I've ever tried, but it's a rare treat for me as I too am cheap and mix my own. I'm a big fan of the totally wicked gold standard flavours which can be had premixed in their red label liquids (either that or titan, but I'm pretty sure it's red label. Check the flavour names against the gold standard to be sure). Their blueberry is just awesome. Tastes like blueberry pie filling. I also rate honeydew melon from them.

I really like decadent vapours' coffee flavours, where some can be really sweet and sickly theirs isn't. If you can still find it, lotus flower and caramel are both good from them.

Most citrus vapes are good too.
