Mike I'd go with the kit jmc007 linked. It gives you some of the best basic equipment about at a good price. Some of the stuff jmc007 is using needs a lot of time and effort to understand and use. His kit likely costs £400-500 too since it is hand made stuff. The kit he links is dead simple, you put juice in and charge a battery. I'd be happy to use the kit linked myself.

Yes. I've heard good things about that juice range but haven't tried them myself.

The Orion I use is better mainly because of its solid build quality and the fact it is rebuildable. The wire to rebuild a coil and a sheet of SS mesh for making the wicks cost together less than £20 and will last me well over a year.
All ecigs consist of the battery bit and the atomiser bit.
The kit I suggested has the River battery bit and a selection of atomiser bits, an Ego Vision/Stardust and five cartomisers. The thing with all kits like this is they are disposable, the batteries should last a good few months each, no problem, the atties though will last a week at best without cleaning. Also the main the Orion is a genesis mod, (A name coined by Scubadatdan, I believe, who invented the idea of using stainless steel mesh for the wick in an atomiser.) all non genesis atties use silica or fibreglass and are extremely prone to giving a bad burnt taste. Simply the ss wicks give by far the best tasting vapour, with non of the bad taste which is always there in all other atties, even if you believe you have good vapour taste, if you try a genesis wick you will understand.
A decent mod may initially cost you a fair bit more, though in less than a year of vaping you will be up.
I have been vaping a couple of years, do a bit of research on UK vapours on a good genesis mod. Good thing is they hold their value too.

Tornado is still a 510 connector though isnt it?

Tornados use the ego connector which lets you us both ego and 510 threaded atties. If it was a 510 only battery then you couldn't use anything that has a 'skirt' of an ego connection without an adaptor. It isn't really an issue unless you buy something like a lavatube (which is a 510) and want to use ego style atties. Even then you just need a 510 to ego adaptor.

Yep, you're good to go. I wrote a big reply to your post when I first saw it, but must have forgotten to post it as I was on my phone!

I stuck a few other suggestions in the OP of this thread, as well as some info to help you through the jargon a bit until you find your way. The riva kit looks good to go, and if you feel like mixing it up you can always stick different atomisers on there for a different experience. Generally, I suggest starting on an 18mg strength juice until you find what suits your intake. Just be careful to get a premixed juice, not just the flavour concentrates as they aren't always clearly differentiated (if it has a nicotine strength it's premixed)!

People say rebuildables save you money but due to the big upfront cost and the fact most vapers get itchy for something else in a year they don't save you any money at all.

5 x Bauway 306 atomisers are £20 and you could get 10 months out of them easy, if not a year so don't believe all this rebuildable hype (coming from someone that has been there and done that).

306's are for dripping aren't they? I'm after something with some capacity. From what I understand rebuildables work (more vapour, better taste) better than clearos and the like.

They are for dripping but it all comes around to personal preference. You cannot beat dripping for flavour/vapour imho and you can get a device called a DCA which allows you to slightly increase the capacity and not drip so often.

No other way to tell without trying them all though

First off good luck getting x5 Bauway 306's lasting five months let alone ten. lol
You obviously havn't tried genesis atties if you believe dripping is the pinacle for flavour and vapour. SS wicks beat anything else out there. Even Scott aka igetcha, who does all the reviews is a convert.

I sold one to Scott on UKV, it's the one you see in his review.
I'd get myself on the list there on UKV, well worth it.

Thought I'd best say, saying what I did Bauway 306's would still be an excellent introduction to vaping and dripping. I found the Ikenvape i06's a fair bit nicer mind, even if a bit of a pain with the drip tip.

I must say, I'm really getting the upgrade itch myself. I think I need a good VV battery, one that will handle dual coil attys, and some new atty that'll make good use of the extra volts.

There's supposed to be a new revision of the lava tube/torpedo that has a higher current limit isn't there?

Also, what beats mega DC cartos for vapour and throat hit these days?

Genesis style atties? Most people have to lower the level of nicotine in their juice considerably with them. I went from using 18-24mg to 11or12mg.
