Ppl asking about starter e liquids / kits - Another option is a protank 2 mini + Vision spinner 1300mah - £30 from myepack.co.uk, also a nice budget liquid - Joosejuice key lime 70% + Joosejuice soft mint 30% - Pretty nice for £1.50 /10ml, sort of like a low budget snake oil :)

Oh yes.... made a coil and got it on first attempt, not exactly sure what the resistance is because of this POS cheap multimeter but somewhere around 2.0 ohms... This multimeter is about 0.9 ohms out so its not exactly very accurate... Think I will get a mod so I can measure the resistance properly! This ekowool and kanthal tastes a lot nicer than the default heads.... Much cleaner and generally better tasting... My weekly cost of vaping now with DIY liquids and DIY coils... will be around £3 a week... and it tastes better... Pleased :D

Do you need a flavour wick on a protank with 1.5mm ekowool? I did not use one and it is not leaking.

Also are the RBA atomisers even easier to built than the protank 2? Im interested in those as well now :D

i just use this little ohm tester, get it from here: http://www.cloud9vaping.co.uk/epage...bjectPath=/Shops/yxve46fvrnud/Products/C72-10

Usually get my coils at 1.5ohms-1.8 ohms now with this, no longer need to guess or use my provari which has a built in ohms checker but find it can be a bit hit and miss.

So fasttech seem to have sorted their shipping time, ordered about 25 protank heads back on Dec 10th and they arrived this morning, so took about 11 days and no extra charges hit as it worked out to about £20 odd quid for the 25 protank heads...should last me a fair while now. And they are authentic protank heads as well. Screw paying £10 for a box of 5 heads lol, still got 15 of the 2.5 ohm heads as well from my previous order a few mths back but this time i went for the 1.8ohm heads.

For that price may as well get a MOD with a built in ohm checker. *edit* Ah you make them already.. Why did you buy 25 protank heads if you make them?

I dont recoil or wick my used protanks, i just use them then throw them away as i only coil and wick my kfl and my gp spheroid.

Congrats, it looks really fiddly to do.

I took apart one of my evod's just now, emptied some remaining juice, and cleaned it all out piece by piece, removing all the flavour wicks, rinsing and drying them and all the parts of the coil head. But I also removed the white rubber grommet holding the coiled wick in place and removed the coiled wick to rinse. Stupid, I should have left it in place. The coil has slipped off the end of the wick and it's impossible to slide it back on. :p And it would be very difficult to get the grommet back on and trap enough of the cut wire ends to hold the coil in place again. So I've replaced it with one of the 5 spare coils.
The wick is very shiny and silky, and doesn't seem to be easy to work with, would that be silica? Would need something easier to work with if I buy some DIY wick.

Its silica. You can use cotton wool, which IMO is a better all round material for wick. Can't let it dry burn though.

E: well done NirK, looks a lot harder than it is, doesn't it?

Sounds good. Though having just watched another recoiling/rewicking video, new tightly twisted silica does look easier to use than I thought.
If you wouldn't mind, could you kindly advise me what mm thickness of silica I'd be best off buying (2mm?) and what wire type and thickness is best to have (ribbon, nicr/silver or heat resistant) from the mesh company? And when coiling, does less than 6 wraps means less ohms and is that better than more ohms? All I know is that my coils come as 2.5ohms and the wire is wrapped 6 times. Thanks. :)

5 wraps with .2 kanthal around 2mm silica was the sweet spot for me, came out around 1.8ohms. Get you self a multimeter if you are building you own coils, can pick one up from fleabag for 3 quid.

I used 1.5mm Ekowool with 0.2mm Kanthal wire.

Put a pin down the middle of the Ekowool and sealed one end with tape, also boiled the ekowool for 20 mins and then burned it with a lighter, then wrapped the kanthal around the ekowool (already on the pin to keep it straight). Once it looked ok I slip the pin out and removed the tape / measured resistance etc. came out about 1.8ohm for 4 wraps of 0.2mm Kanthal wire. Bit fiddly but not really difficult. Just need good lighting and steady hands.

I am prob going to make an order today for a full size MOD from fasttech, think I will get the SVD as it looks better built / quality compared to the VAMO (hope it is not fake). Can anyone reccommend me a cheap RBA which would be better flavour than a protank and reasonably easy to setup? Looking for good flavour, even my protank 2 / spinner give me enough vapour already. I would not want one that is too hard to toke on. There is the AGA-T2 and cobra genesis style at around $10 or there is the RSST or Kayfun lite clone at around $25, just looking for something that is better than the protank for flavour, also that will not leak or crack.

Merlin5, as above, I usually use .2 kanthal A1, bought a spool of it ages ago that will probably last me into 2024 :D I don't really use EVODs anymore, been exclusively dripping. 2mm was my weapon of choice for silica, then I found cotton. Pure cotton wool walks all over synthetic wicks IMO

NirK, a dripper like the £10 Trident clone is excellent for tasting juices and it's easy to change wick often and you don't even need to recoil between flavours, just dry burn the coil/s. Not much juice capacity though, so not ideal for out and about

Cheers, what about a RBA with a tank? Think a cheap dripper as well might be a good idea just for testing out my DIY juices.

It's not a bad idea to boil wick material. After all, you're inhaling vapour off of it with no idea if the guy who packed it washes his hands. Or has toilet paper
