I hate to be a thread skimming dick, but after reading 40 or so of the 145 pages here I'm just as confused as I was when I started :D. Basically I'm looking for a starter kit for around 50-60 of our British pounds. I smoke rollies atm, probably 13-15 a day; and I enjoy the kick of a stronger smoke. I've quit previously; for several years. But I really missed the sensation. Especially whilst drinking. So I'd like to switch to vaping if possible. I've switched to vaping in other areas *ahem*, but tobacco vaping is completely confusing for me. Can anyone recommend a suitable starter kit, around the £60 mark (with juice). Ideally upgradable, but idk whether that's really doable with the budget. Any advice appreciated :).

Their 27 quid starter kit will do you justice to try out vaping. (http://www.vapeland.co.uk/vision-v3-ego-black-kit---900mah-97-p.asp)

I'm still using one of the batteries in the original kit 6 months on!

On their 30 ml bottles, they also have 15% of every additional 30ml bottle of the same flavour.

Received my order from Scopes Liquid just now, got a Peach & Apple Tart, also chucked me in a free 5ml Blueberry which was a nice surprise. Will be purchasing from there again.

Will update on the flavour in due course.

Trying the Peach now, my word, that is by far the nicest flavour I have ever tried. So smooth to vape with, no nasty throat hit and horrible after taste.

I tried it now. Must need a lot of steeping because I get no distinct flavour at all yet, but it's certainly got sweetness. Absolutely no marzipan as yet. Me and juices - fail! :p Too early for me to judge to be fair, needs a week maturing at least.

Well chaps, I am absolutely chuffin' chuffed with myself. I lost my virginity and did my first ever microcoil! Beginners luck perhaps, but it was much easier than I expected, nailed it first time and no wasted kanthal! :D

Found my old set of mini silver handled screwdrivers of varying thickness and used one which is probably around 2mm or slightly less. Cut off about 15cm of 0.3mm/28 kanthal, held in tweezers and torched it for about 30/40 seconds in the blue flame part from a bic lighter. Wrapped it about 10 times, pressed it up against the handle of the screwdriver to compress it then transferred it to tweezers. Torched it while compressing more. Transferred back to the screwdriver and installed it with no problem this time getting through the holes of the IGO-W. Adjusted it so coil wasn't touching the posts, then tightened the post screws down. Then pulsed and compressed it a few times more. Was easier working on it having the dripper attached to the mod.

Was a bit high from the deck so pushed it down a little, trying not to mis-shape or break it. But yeah, this wire is pretty solid and resilient once coiled and torched. It's not perfect, coils could still be tighter together but works perfectly! Used a tiny piece of cotton pleat and it went through pretty easy. Resistance coming out as 1.6 ohms.

The throat hit is ridiculous compared to the evod, much stronger!

lol.

N1 on the first build Merlin, looks good. The endless chase for the perfect vape has started. :D Once you have the science of coil, wick and airflow with power provided you'll pretty much have these rebuildable drippers sussed.
t.b.h. I have not fine tuned one myself, I gave up after very few attempts as I could taste the cotton and went back to my beloved Orion with it's SS mesh wick. It took me that long to perfect the genesis and I could not be arsed doing it again.
All the best with it what ever.

*Edit. Just ordered a Trident RDA from Fasttech, along with a few other bits; coil building looks so much fun. :D Got to try a Clapton coil and the Flat ******* coil and the nano dragon. Looking forward to it. :D

For a beginner I recomend a twist battery with some EVOD's cant really go wrong. I would recomend something like
Battery
Evod
USB-Charger
There could be other places to get them from and juice is a personal thing.
Try get a few juices and a few EVOD's so you can swap and change untill you find some you really like.

That's awesome, cheers duder.

Would I be right in thinking I can re-wind/re-fit the coil on that Kanger and it would go on and on for the meantime? (or do ye require wick too).

I'm not really sure what the difference is between the Kanger EVOD clearomizer and a Aspire BDC clearomizer?. Are they basically the same thing? (a coil heating a wick), and both will require new wicks and coils every so often?. Sorry, I'm a retarded newbie.

Thanks for the help :).

You could get 2 x EVOD 1000mah batteries and a mini dripping atomiser such as IGO-S for approx £40. To be honest if you coil it properly that will work 95% as well as anything else you can buy at any price.

Yes they are basically the same thing except for a few major differences. Without going into too much detail:

The EVODs are single coil - they have one coil doing the vaporising contained within a pre-made head assembly. The Aspires are BDC or bottom dual coil. This means the coil is at the bottom of the tank and there are two coils in one head assembly. They perform better then single coils (allegedly - don't get me started) are really very reliable and are a great starting option if you want to get off the fags. BUT you will really struggle to rebuild a dual coil head whereas the single coil head is easier. The dual coils will also go through batteries faster.

You should be aware that the EVODs are notorious for leaking. If you want to go for a single coil type of setup i.e if you want to try rebuilding them - I would recommend the Kanger Mini Protank 2 as it is a good solid starting position (its better then an EVOD). see here. http://myepack.co.uk/mini-protank-2-kit.html for a starter kit at 20 sheets and comes with 5 spare heads.

However note that all of these the coils are really very very small and a bit of a pain in the arse to rebuild - the BDC systems doubly so. You can buy replacement coils for both types at about a quid to £1.50 each and you'll need to change them roughly once a week unless you rebuild them yourself.

Nirk is right, if you are interested in rebuilding you really should spend your money on a purpose made rebuildable atomiser like an IGO-S. I for one wish I had known that when I started out. Don't be frightened of rebuilding its pretty simple and gets easier with time. Note that these do not have a tank - you drip your juice into the top and then take a vape, having to redrip every 6-10 tokes or so - hence the name dripping atomiser.

Decided to take out a coil from my igo w because one was higher res. It's great now! 2.1ohms too so I can use VW on my SVD. I must say I forgot how nice it is to have that function after using a mech for months and swapping batts every 5 mins!

Guys, I need help. I currently want to switch to e-cigs but the Morrisons one is rubbish and I just don't feel like I am getting a suitable substitute to my Embassy number one's

Any advice for me please?

being a newbie a while back myself, i went for these..

Battery - http://myepack.co.uk/batteries/kanger-evod-1000-mah-battery.html

Tank - http://myepack.co.uk/clearomizers/mini-protank-2-v2-removable-drip-tip.html

Charger - http://myepack.co.uk/batteries/usb-charger-for-e-vod.html

Replacement coil's (dependant on your ohmage choice, i used 2.2 for example) - http://myepack.co.uk/accessories/protank-coil.html

and then all you have to do is buy some juice for your tank! simple!

edit: oh, and buy two battery's. so you've always got a back up, and can use it while charging the other.

Thanks for the input guys and not as simple as lighter and fag to mouth but I have gone with Tauren's advice.

Still none the wiser on juice but I can trial and error till I find something I like. I went with Menthol for now, as a trial but can easily order some other if that doesn't work out. Cheers for the help men :)

Mmmm looks like come Monday i shall be pre-ordering the new GP Heron atty to add to my collection  Should make a nice little combo with my GP paps as well.

So far got a KFL, GP Spheroid and hopefully the Heron, if they dont sell out before i manage to bag one for myself.

Menthol is a good all rounder I find, even if you never smoked menthols. It's a bit of a learning curve at first, but stick with it and you'll find it's even easier than lighter to cigarette (ecig to mouth!).

I found there was a small mental barrier of when I got the urge for a cig, I would think I still needed a dirty ciggie; though overcome that and actually pick the ecig up, take a couple of hits and the urge dissipates pretty quickly.

Seems a good solid start up kit you've gone for.

Also i found its best to make the switch slowly.
I used to smoke during the day and vape at night time, then once the weekend came i started vaping full time. (this was after 4 days)
I found the transition very easy.
