Poll: The Vega Review Thread.

What do we think about Vega?

  • What has AMD been doing for the past 1-2 years?

  • It consumes how many watts and is how loud!!!

  • It is not that bad.

  • Want to buy but put off by pricing and warranty.

  • I will be buying one for sure (I own a Freesync monitor so have little choice).

  • Better red than dead.

if you play at 1080 the 1070 gtx is the better option across the gaming board.retailers have dropped it to near £300 and its faster at 1080 on avg than the cheapest £450 vega.amd needs to readjust the stupid pricing.

Yeah and at 4K where Vega 64 Air appears to be the strongest (compared to 1080FE) it gets utterly demolished by 1080Ti so it's difficult to see what section of gamers Vega will appeal to.

Slightly disappointed by the performance of Vega. I was considering a Ryzen build with the Vega bundle but the performance just isn't there for what I want.

Very predictable results. I said this would go life and death with the 1080 at best many months ago. Amusing to see all of the die-hards thinking this would compete with the 1080 Ti. Nevertheless these are solid-performing cards that, if priced correctly, could shine. Power consumption is horrendous though compared to the competition.

Either way prepare for Navi to be massively overhyped just like Fiji, Polaris, and Vega were. Already it is being compared with Volta. I'll simply say what I said at the beginning of this year:

Why do people think Vega will be able to compete with Nvidia's top end? Am I missing something here? Nvidia has been spanking AMD for years when it comes to performance and power efficiency. How is AMD going to suddenly bridge this huge gap?

Freesync 1440p'ers I suppose. Not a huge section of the market granted. Having said that....they have nearly all sold out. I dunno. Under supplying seems the tactic these days,.

The 25 game average for Vega 64 would prob be around 130 then. Its disappointing sure, but that's no slouch.
I doubt there will be many people buying Vega with the intention of running with a 1080p monitor. Saying that it's 1080p performance is horrid when compared against it's competitors.

Despite all the usual power consumption trolling that goes on in this forum its really not bad at all, pretty good in fact but that doesn't take away from it being a GTX 1070.

Too many people fail to understand the difference between TDP and power consumption.

Sad, thats what this is, sad, AMD not being competitive in the GPU space is bad for everyone, even those trolls who are loving this right now will come to hate it in the long run.

Steve and Gamernexus tweaked a rx 56 to 1525mhz on core at 210, up 30 watts from throttling stock and down 60w from a 1475 core clock

I also want to say too many people fail to understand the difference between TPD and power consumption.

TDP is just an manufactures specifications recommendation to vendors, that can be whatever the Manufacture (nVidia / AMD) want it to be.

AMD over state their TDP rating because they think it results in vendors match their reference PCB build quality, it doesn't. nVidia do have a habit of under stating their TDP because it looks good on the box, vendors know this.

The difference between savy marketing and...... not!

Did you order one Loadsa? lol.

I was so close to ordering the liquid one as Gibbo did a good job on prices, but only 2 years warranty was a right put off for me. I mean the only thing the GPU had going for it from my point of view was how great it looks, but with the disappointing reviews and poor warranty, it was not good enough.

at £450 a pop, I reckon he wee'd himself and bought 2 for xfire. :)

This is a really pathetic attempt at competition from AMD. I feel like invoicing them for the time wasted reading and checking forums for the last year.
I can't believe they've managed to produce such an abortion of a card. The GTA 5 benches are what really alarm me. 28.8fps at 4K in a game from 2015 wtf??

Tbh Gta5 should be scrapped as a judgement on AMD performance as quite
Why would his review be the only one worth watching? That guy was doing lets play videos with barely any views up until he stumbled across doing a video of the new amd control panel which got him noticed.

He does make a lot of sense when he is talking though. Plenty of what he says makes sense. He called out Vega a while back and said it would be 1080 and nothing special. He does seem to have a slight AMD bias but most likely because he wants competition for Nvidia. Atm PC is just becoming daft where pricing is concerned and a strong AMD will hopefully benefit us all. Looking forward to what he says and i really think he will give it some as Vega 64 looks pretty poor. Only light side is 56 which is half decent.

Here's hoping in 2018 a refined Vega does something. The 290x was the last time AMD actually brought something decent to the table gpu wise. If they can replicate what they did in the cpu world with Ryzen then Gpu's will get better. I won't be holding my breath though.
