Poll: The Vega Review Thread.

What do we think about Vega?

  • What has AMD been doing for the past 1-2 years?

  • It consumes how many watts and is how loud!!!

  • It is not that bad.

  • Want to buy but put off by pricing and warranty.

  • I will be buying one for sure (I own a Freesync monitor so have little choice).

  • Better red than dead.

This is a really pathetic attempt at competition from AMD. I feel like invoicing them for the time wasted reading and checking forums for the last year.
I can't believe they've managed to produce such an abortion of a card. The GTA 5 benches are what really alarm me. 28.8fps at 4K in a game from 2015 wtf??

I'm seeing 49 here max detail at 4k. GTA V has always been a bit poor on AMD GPU's.

GTA 5 never really performs well on ANYTHING AMD so its not surprising.

From the little we know about Navi, Navi is just going to be a revised and optimised version of Vega built on smaller cores and glued together in one package so i wouldn't expect to see wholesale changes in the design approach when Navi finally lands.
In fairness, that is a wholescale change right there!

From the TechPowerUP review:

Amazing XD
Very poor showing here yet KitGuru supposedly are qutoed saying some cards may reach 1900mhz on the core. Sure i seen that quote a few pages back. Typical AMD just not ready for release and the press will murder them as they should. Whoever does these launches need sacked tbh

Why would his review be the only one worth watching? That guy was doing lets play videos with barely any views up until he stumbled across doing a video of the new amd control panel which got him noticed.

Because people like the detail he goes into and raises points of concern that no other reviewer would even think about and he backups everything he says with factual evidence. His ‘Ryzen of Tomb Raider’ is a classic example as you would never have found out about the issues Nvidia’s DX12 driver is casing from other tech sites. He’s also shown how much better the Bulldozer/Piledriver CPU’s have gotten over the years (basically showing that games are starting to scale better over time) and shown us why AMD benefited so much when I gave the Vulkan patch for Doom.

I hoping he can explain why performance on Vega has increased so little over a Fury X despite the huge bump in clock speed.

This is really not good at all is it? how much is this thing going to cost? £300? can't be any more than that.

AMD just aren't competitive in the GPU space now.

Volta soon.....

I doubt there will be many people buying Vega with the intention of running with a 1080p monitor. Saying that it's 1080p performance is horrid when compared against it's competitors.
