The Walking Dead thread

One major difference between this an Fahrenheit is that The Walking Dead doesn't have an utter car crash sham of an non-ending to beat all non-endings, ever.

About to start episode 3 tonight, loving it, really grim story so far!
Telltale also want to work on more franchises like star wars.

Please no, Star Wars should be like Jedi Knight Jedi Academy! or Force Unleashed just a lot less linear.

Would be interesting to see though.

We need to hope it doesn't become another half life 2 episode 3/HL3, I cant see Telltale pushing it back too far as Walking Dead was so successful.

I loved walking dead game. Seemed very different to other games in how it was presented. Highly recommend to anyone who is thinking of giving it a go but not decided yet.

Just finished this. Very engrossing and emotional at the end.

Recommend to all those sitting on the fence about it!

It is reported that 8.5 million episodes of the game were sold and a second series has been approved.

There is also mention of bringing across your save games from the first choice so your choices are brought over  - GEEK FREAKOUT

In that regard, the possibilities are endless.

Just finished episode 1, fantastic game so far. I'm fixated on ensuring Clementine's safety.

I thought it was a bit rapey at the start, I said 'I'm not her father' in the second chapter or so to the son of Hershel. It then popped up 'So and so will remember that'. And then at the farmhouse, Hershel was making long stares at her. :/

^ A little thought of mine, but put in spoiler tags as I don't wanna...well...spoil anything for anyone.

I bought this on steam but have a strange problem in that the game will only run if I disable my internet connection, anyone else have this problem?

if this has already been posted then apologies, but one massive problem with this game.

Well it annoyed me no end at least.

If you have Win 8, you wont be able to run this game with your xbox controller plugged in.

You MUST unplug it for the game to boot up. Furthermore Telltale's official stance on this is that they do not support windows 8, so no official fix in the works.

Source "Unfortunately Windows 8 is not currently a supported platform, however all games have been shown to run without a controller plugged in."

To add insult to injury, i have just discovered that you also lose your save games upon unplugging your xbox controller, thankfully i was inbetween episodes but annoying if you're half way through an Ep. I think this is also mentioned in the OP in the link above.

I can't remember what I did but my xBox controller worked fine throughout the game. I did have a problem with saves at one point I've no idea what caused it and managed to get them working again easily enough.

I'll have a dig for the controller fix but I'm fairly certain it involved messing with a .dll file.

I'm gutted.

Opened the game to start EP2, and the last save was end of EP1 BEFORE I finished it, so I deleted it thinking I wouldn't need it.

clicked start episode 2, and it asks if I wanna have pre-determined game choices as no save file wa sfound for EP1, DOH.

Can anyone please help?

I start my laptop, looking forward to jumping into Episode 3. upon selecting the walking dead from my library, it refuses to open, brings up the initial steam dialog, attempts to load the game, the dialog dissapears and that's it.

I googled it, enabled 'compatibility mode' as it apparently solves the issue. Which it did, great.

Now it's not finding my save from yesterday anywhere. Anyone experienced this?

Not having much luck with my experience here. :(

Be nice if the saves worked reliably between the episodes first.

Had to keep copying the prefs.prop file from the save directory to the game directory, between each episode, so it would recognise the saves.

Have disabled steams sync and it seems better now.

Great game though, really enjoying it. On episode 4 now:D

I've come across this on the steam forums as a solution, there isn't a props file in the walking dead steam folder anywhere :S Where should it go?

There is one in the Pack\default folder in the game directory, and one in the Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead directory.

The larger of the two is the most recent as I understand it. I had to copy from the saves directory to the pack folder.

It can differ though, I got my info from here:

Thats the thing, there genuinely isn't one in there. It's bizarre.
