The Walking Dead thread

Not sure if I'll replay it, since I'm feeling a bit unhappy about some of the choices I made.

I felt bad about shooting Kenny, but he seemed to be going full psycho, so I figured it was correct. Then you find out Jane lied about the baby just to cause ****, damn. I want to replay and go with Kenny.

I guess Kenny won't be in S3 much at all. That's what usually happens to characters who can die, they end up dying anyway about 10 minutes later (so the makers don't have to cater to 100 different outcomes)

Well in regards to Season 3 I have a feeling there will be new characters etc...

Considering the endings especially my own where Clem was out on her own and surviving...it feels like an end to her story arc. While the alternative endings could continue, what's the point? I think the season needs a fresh start with another set of characters.

I enjoyed most of it but for season 3 I won't be fooled into buying early, I paid full price and the game has been on sale multiple times even before the last episode was out.

I also think the novelty is wearing off a bit, it's become obvious that 95% of your choices actually make no meaningful difference and there were extended periods of season 2 where I wondered why they even let me control Clem at all when all I could do was walk 20m then interact with one object.

Also, the constant prompts "Luke will remember that" get a bit annoying, especially when quite often they come up about 2 minutes before that character is killed so it doesn't actually make any difference at all.

Season 1 seemed to offer more puzzle elements and I felt my actions had more effect but looking back I think part of that was that the whole experience and approach were new to me so I didn't see the cracks and flaws. I'd also only just finished The Wolf Among Us so perhaps I've just overdone it a bit on the TellTale games lately.

I appreciate it's impossible to have a story that branches too much but it kind of sucks that the game gives you the impression you can save someone like Luke when he dies whatever you do. That's made worse by the fact it won't let you kill an annoying character like Arvo because he has to be around to shoot you later (no matter how you treat him).

Yes its in a lot of sales and seems to be on promotion every time a new episode is out so really no need to buy it full price.

I enjoyed season 2, it had some good squeamish moments and added some cool locations in which things could play out.

As far as your choices not having a massive impact, I'm not really bothered as it gives me my own story either way. Unless you are someone who needs to repeatedly play through to see what else would happen and therefore undermining any emotional impact I dont think it will matter to anyone who only plays through once.

Loved the first walking dead game and would have given that 10/10. There were likeable characters and some comedy relief thrown in there to break up the hard decisions. The dynamic of having an innocent little girl to take care of made the game so great and actually made you care about her and want to protect her. I'd say Clemantine is one of the best characters in a video game for me.

Season 2 was more like an argument simulator. Every other interaction you have to choose between the people arguing, usually followed by a frown and '****** will remember that' . To be honest I didnt really like many of the people in this season, which makes it even harder to constantly choose between them.

I just hope for season 3 they don't do another age jump like they did in season 2. I can see them turning it into a soap opera with a spotty teenage love interest etc if they raise her age again. The fact she's an innocent kid thrown into a harsh, danger filled world is what makes this game so great and that would be ruined if they do turn her into another generic badass chick.

yeah I guess this is a big possibility and maybe for the best as they could ruin it if they do what I mentioned above. I'd imagine a lot of people wont like it though and I can't see the series being anywhere near as popular.

I can't see them doing better than the first two. Season two had some great moments (the ending was excellent imo) and I think some of the new characters being unlikeable actually worked well since I found myself clinging to old alliances longer than I should have as a result, which played into the story well I think. That said, it had its dull moments too.

I guess they were never going to be able to top season 1.
They shouldn't have killed off Lee :(. I really didn't like Kenny at all throughout season 1, so with not really liking the new group I couldn't cling to Kenny either. Most of my decisions I might as well have done blindfolded as I just picked any. Seemed like every dispute had to be solved by Clem choosing which person to side with, when usually both suggestions were viable, yet no matter what you choose it always seems to result in disaster and they Clem is blamed.

It did have some good moments i guess. Also quite liked the end, but was hoping it would be more open ended. It does seem as though it could end there for Clem :( and if 400 days later is anything to go by I don't think i'll be interested in a new story with new characters. I guess I'll wait for the reviews before buying season 3

Just completed the entire adventure of The Walking Dead, and I was blown away by how good it was. It pulled me in to the point I don't think I've felt that much emotion over certain characters in games for many years.

I had the good ending too

Deserves a season 3

You should give the wolf among us a try next if you havent already. Not as good as TWD IMO, but it is very good and has some of the same voice actors.

Loving the praise this game seem to be getting. I have the game but only really put 30 mins into it...lol

Maybe I should play it considering I'm a massive fan of the series!

Hmm this has been on the "to do" list for perhaps too long reading that! :)

Yeh and I'm VERY picky when it comes to games :p

I felt like I had a real attachment to Clementine and Kenny ( No spoilers ), don't see many games doing that! Most games you just play to complete and don't care either way

Season one imo was a masterpiece of character driven story and making you feel part of what was happening. I have never felt such emotion in a game ever.

I have to completely agree with this, what a fantastic game. Season 2 was also excellent. My brother just bought this game with 400 days off g2a for £3 too
