The Walking Dead thread

Haven't played this since the end of Ep2. I think some token black got executed or something.

Without spoiling, do Ep 3 and 4 get better? I found it a bit boring to be honest, didn't seem to have the same camaraderie or stories that the first season did.

Yeah I agree it's nowhere near the depth and quality of season 1. Episode 4 is definitely the best so far but it frustrates me that I never feel in control of the story like season 1. There doesn't even seem to be the dialogue options to express how I'd feel in those situations, I've found myself choosing "...." more this time around because the options are neither here nor there.

Anyone else think Telltale have become lazy?

Ep4 was weak in my opinion.

No character building, with dialogue being reduced to almost nothing.

Where were the choices that actually change stuff.

There was times I strongly agreed/disagreed with what was being said yet my choice of responses were poor.

What incentive do they have, they have had my money since last year :(

You're spot on. There were a lot of moments in season 2 where I just put the 360 controller on the desk and just let the game play itself. It is obvious that there is a lot less dialogue interaction than before and the characters just all suck to the point where you don't build any care for them.

Your dialogue decisions during key moments don't change the outcome of the final event anyway so lives will be lost regardless.

EPS4 Spoilers
Decided to Rob Arvo for the pills knowing that it would come and bite me in the rear later on. During the final scene I shot Rebecca, cue fade to black amongst gunfire. How the hell did she turn though?

I was siding more with Kenny in this. He seemed more solidified and focused after the baby was delivered whereas Luke lost all my trust.

Racoon scene was a great moment :D

This is kind of a spoiler from the comic/tv show I guess so read on if you wish...

They are now going to discover you don't have to get bit to turn, everyone turn's when they die, they are all infected.

clem knew this already from season 1

all i know is sum people gonna end up dead from that mexcian stand off if not then LOLZ to this game

That was episode 2 season 1 they found out.

You know I totally forgot about that...my mistake!

To be fair what annoyed me most about the last episode is that it really felt like your choices meant nothing...decisions made and we still end up at the same bit...yes I know the rest of the game is always like this but the impact seemed to be lessened big style.

Just played it through

Liked Jane, much as I liked Molly, they both seemed like good role models for Clem, but alas both didn't last very long. I saved Sarah the first time, but honestly she was just too annoying, I didn't hesitate to save Jane the second time. I robbed the Russians and shot Rebecca as well

I felt the same. I was gutted when she left because I wanted to ally with her and sack off the rest of this useless bunch, even though I still feel like I owe Kenny a bit after investing in him for so long. I let sarah die with barely a moment's hesitation. She was weak, her dad was dead. No one would be coming after me to bite me in the ass for that.

I didn't rob Alvo because I thought I would need him later, so when I saw him I was like "yes, my niceness paid off!" and then he decided to rob me anyway. Dick. I shoulda robbed his ass. Does Rebecca live if you stole his meds btw? I stupidly decided to shoot rebecca straight away since Jane said to do so without hesitation, but it sounds like a lot of people died. Time to find out who.

Rebecca dies no matter what, regardless of the stealing meds choice. Kenny shoots her if you don't shoot her, then the gun fight happens. So regardless of choice, it all turns out the same way which is quite disappointing from Telltale.

I'm really hoping Jane turns up after the gunfight mess and her and Clem go their own way.

I've been really disappointed with Season Two of this. I know certain things are set in stone (they have to be for the story to work) but I feel like I can do whatever and nothing will ever deviate. Season One was essentially the same, but it never really felt as walled in as S2.
Alvin dies no matter what you do, Sarah dies no matter what you do, you still end up getting robbed by Arvo and called a thief, even if you didn't take the meds from him and Rebecca dies and turns no matter what
. Everything feels so constricted and you barely get to do anything with Clem except go from QTE to QTE.

TWAU is so superior to S2. I really hope TTG buck their ideas up for a Season Three (if there is one) and as much as I like Clem, it needs to go to a fresh lead as the plucky 11 YO that is constantly saving idiotic adults has really worn thin now.

I think the reason Arvo calls you a thief no matter what is because Jane took his gun whether or not you took the meds which he seems so blame Clementine for. Determinate characters like Nick, Alvin and Sarah will always die as in some peoples games they won't exist so won't be able to play any major roles like Nick in episodes 3&4, it was the same with Ben, Carley and Doug in season 1

Season 3 was confirmed at Comic con https://twitter.com/telltalegames/status/493162389341093888

The game does feel a bit more linear compared to season 1 as they removed mechanic like hubs in favor of more streamline storytelling.

I have enjoyed playing as Clementine as it makes a nice change to play as a interesting child character compared to every other game where you play as a adult male protagonist, i really hope she is in season 3 even if we don't play as her.

I think for Season 3 I'll give it a miss and just read the Wiki tbh. I just have a feeling the quality of the storyline and the player interaction will be much less. It'll be nice to see how Clem grows up though.

What annoyed me is the fact that 'XYZ will remember this' - throughout episode 3 & 4 I felt my decisions towards certain characters had no bearing at all.

People are saying Arvo stole the big bag of meds from the Russian group he was with, he was trying to stash them somewhere when you met him, so he instead blames the whole thing on you. You were in the perfect place to be his scapegoat. Makes sense.

Just found out that just like in The Wolf Among Us, you can't turn off story notifications. Very disappointed in the devs. Nowhere near as looking forward to it as I was now.

This is a very poor decision that, imo is just a cheap manipulation tactic used to make you think what you are doing matters. It is patronizing, and they have seriously dropped the ball.

Finally got around to doing Ep 3 and 4 this weekend.

Got feels for Kenny. Having to go through losing your loved one twice over must really get to you. Also when Rebecca turned I thought she was gonna take a nice bite out of that fresh baby baguette she had in her arms! :D
