The Weekend Football Thread *spoilers*

Liverpool looked pretty average today, gave away the ball a huge amount. Yet another extremely average performance by Aquilani when he came on, I havent seen anything from him yet which warrants the price tag. In fact , I havent seen anything from him yet which warrants 50% of the price tag.

Indeed, not sure I'd even say it was 50%. Seemed to stop a few times waiting for the whistle, when there wasn't anything there.

Exactly my thoughts on Aquilani. He's been out a long time and it's a different league but so far he's been nothing short of ****. I always give time for new players before judging but he's looking nowhere near the standard were after so far.

Not missed a single Liverpool game in the past 5 years but watching football used to be enjoyable but this season is seriously depressing and tempting me to stop wasting my Saturdays.

He looked a far better player in Rome. He's new to the league and playing in a team that doesn't really prioritise the bits of his game that he excels in like short and quick passing

1-1 FT.

After 2 wins in the Premiership I was hoping that we would start to play with more confidence and composure but that was as usless as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.

All four defenders chose to hoof the ball all night and on the odd occasion they did have time and space none of the midfielders bothered to come back to collect it. Felt sorry for Torres and Ngog because they had absolutely nothing to play with and no support.

As for our Captain his performances of late smack of someone that doesn't want to be at Liverpool anymore. I don't know if the rumours of Rafa asking him to play on instead of getting an op so he can be fit for the World Cup are true but there's something badly wrong with him at the moment. I hope I'm wrong and it's just a lack of form but I'm worried.

I think we've been very lucky we've not faced a top team that are bang on form because someone's going to gang rape us by a massive margin soon.

Thats a problem then.

Being good for the Italian league and for one particular playstyle doesnt really help us much and does make you wonder why none of the Liverpool setup thought hang on.."this guy doesnt look like he will work in our setup in our league" before deciding to whack 20 million quid on him

Could be that I have an old fashioned approach to football management, but I would tend to buy players who will work in my team and league rather than splashing cash on someone who doesnt. Especially when the cash is that kind of sum.

Only real positive for us is that we didn't lose. Love the way people are making their minds up on Aquliani after a handful of appearances though.

It is not often that I **** my team off but that performance from Liverpool was a disgrace. Reading deserved to win that game. The application and attitude from our players was disgusting. I can take mistakes and bad luck etc but when the effort is lacking I can only hang my head.

Seriously not looking forward to tomorrows game against Lids. On the pitch there should not be any excuses and we should beat them.

It's off the pitch that concerns me. 9000 legitimate tickets and god knows how many without. Was reading some of their fan boards today and the latest bright idea to show they are big time and still 'ard is not to go and start a scrap with the blokes outside O/T but it's simply to punch women in an attempt to goad who they are with into a fight..................

I would link but as you would expect from a fan's board, it's a little less family friendly than OcUK

Like I said, so far, hes not looking like the type of player we need and one that's worth £20m. But there's always time and I hope to god he does come good, not judging him overall saying he is crap, but he needs to change the way he plays greatly to fit into the current team we have and style we play.

Spurs will do it next Sunday.
Nah I've got a feeling this fixture has landed perfectly for Liverpool to go on a great run.

Lennon is massive for Spurs, he really has stepped up a level this year. He's out for 2-3 weeks after hurting his groin last week, as did Benny Ekotto, another big player for Spurs. His replacement is Gareth Bale... who is defensively woefull :(

On the other hand Liverpool have just got Torres and Gerrard approaching full fitness.

It's at Anfield... hardly a happy hunting ground for Spurs. I'd put my money on the scousers.
