I downloaded the evaluation copy of XP64 of Microsofts site. It includes SP1

There was a bit of discrepancy in the length of the evaluation, anywhere from 120 to 180 days. Seems ok.

One thing, if I take the cd out, it goes into an endless loop of rebooting, its strange, surely its not looking every time for the cd present?

i just right click on them in windows device manager list, and disable them :)

it's just the ability to capture stuff through the in part of the video (brains not working yet so cant remember the name of it) :)

There will be no problems with windows or anything by doing this

So is it actually worth getting XP 64?? I am currently running 2000 and am just about to purchase a copy of XP for my new rig. I will be running Office 2000 and a multitude of other app's that currently rune fine on 2000. Should I get XP 64 for future upgrade or should I get the normal 32 bit version. Any help would be appreciated.

Been running x64 since July. Nice and stable and seems a tad quicker too. I would get it IF you can find drivers for all your hardware and peripherals. That's the trickiest bit!

Yeah, go through all your devices and see if they have x64 drivers available. Most software works without any problems at all. You could also download the trial from Microsoft and load that on. I think it is a 180-day version, good for six months.

Trouble is that I am currently running 2000 so I don't think the trial version is an option. Think I'll just stick with the 32 bit version.
